Can everybody please, please look at this and register, as well as being a good day out it will be fantastic if we can all raise some money in the bargin.

On Saturday 11th February 2012 Wigan Athletic are away to Bolton Wanderers, it is proposed that a group of us will walk from the DW Stadium to the Reebok Stadium prior to the game, the walk will be for Emma Hoolin, to raise awareness and funds for treatment

Emma is a 4 year old girl from Whitley in Wigan and she was diagnosed in mid-February this year, Valentines Day, with a childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma, she is currently receiving treatment in the US to give her the best chance of making a full recovery, obviously this costs money

The walk will leave the DW Stadium at 11 am, hopefully arriving at the Reebok around 1pm, there will be a refreshment break mid-way

Originally I thought that we might get 100 people to do the walk, but the bar has been raised and I think a more realistic target is 500, this is going to take some organising so to help make the event run as smoothly as possible could you please register your intentions to do the walk at walk4emma@hotmail.co.uk a database will be created and once details have been finalised you will be emailed a full pack, route card, brochure and sponsorship forms

Work has been busy behind the scenes, we have the full support of the Latics, Bolton Wanderers, GMP, there is even talk of national TV coverage but can`t say too much about that at the moment.

This event will be big, brash and fun, it will certainly raise awareness, hopefully helping Emma to achieve her monetary target

For more information about Emma and her condition visit her website: Emma Hoolin website

      Sounds like a plan!

I can imagine there being more than one “refreshment break” on the way, and I think we will have to set off well before 11!!

Count me and jez82 from wiganer in. Like mr griff said, 11am sounds a bit pushing it to me. Why not arrange for a couple of public houses to open earlier (brekkie and all that on the way). The longer people are on the road the more money raised. What’s the distance? bout 6 mile? not sure exactly.

Good idea anyway, whoever came up with it………….have a A*. :cheer:

(I may even wear my special custom made vest to ease the pain on the owd bunions)

The event planners are looking for people to make it happen and run like clockwork, they need people to help now with any ideas or support, an organising committee needs to be formed, anyone who can help please do so, next friday there is a charity football match at Ashton in aid of Emma which has been publicised on all the forums, it is intended to have an informal chat about the walk after the match, EVERYBODY who can help or wants to be involved please try to come and have a beer with us.

couldn’t get on the site for about an hour, don’t know what went on??? anyway, i’m trying to get to the match on friday as i’m on 6-2 for a change. so baby permitting and all that i hope to be their. Don’t think there will be much trouble getting volunteers. I agree though that the club should make a song and dance about this great idea.

looking forward to getting involved (walking, drinking, watching us beat the ***th…………….. oh!and raising plenty/loads for Emma….

However, can you (or the Mods) change the title of the thread….it even took me this long to see what you were ‘getting at’ (I thought it was about a footy story). More people need to be aware with the title not a ‘read here’ link.

            Just a thought like chap……….

            ………….count on my support. goodpost
