I know Bob has to say the right things and play the game but to stir the team up a bit, and considering we have nothing to lose at the moment why doesn’t he just come out and say we ain’t good enough?
I’ve seen many managers do that in the premier league and not even after the type run we have just had, and hey ho next game they have seen a response. Sometimes footballers are treated with kid gloves and its just not done to upset them and make them question their performances.
I’m just speculating that Bob says the same kind of things in training, that things will improve, we’re unlucky blah blah blah. All this does is give the players an excuse to believe it is not their fault and that ultimately they are just unlucky?

I stopped listening to his press stuff years ago. It’s obvious he will not make a negative utterance of any kind in public. I suspect what he says on the training ground is actually somewhat different. That said, I suspect a bollocking from Bob is like being savaged by a dead sheep as some politician once famously said.
31 October 2011 at 2:58 am #73123does a treaty have to be signed by the leader of each faction of the dark and the light sides when one side loses?
31 October 2011 at 3:00 am #73124Does he not realise that the fans don’t buy into these press conferences though? So all they serve to do is annoy fans?
I think questioning the teams performances publicly without singling out players can have a desired effect and other managers use it to good effect.
The problem is that there might not just be any effect to be had and this might just be the level we are finding ourselves at. In bad runs of form, shaking things up and trying to promote a response from your players by differing means is essential. Fair enough he wants to keep a certain way of playing but around that he needs to be seen to be trying to shake things up.
31 October 2011 at 3:45 am #73127The natives are getting restless and there will be keanesque protests before long !! I am getting sick of this ” We shouldn’t be here anyhow ” sh1t ! FFS if we go down with this clown we still have the negative rubbish to look forward to next season !
31 October 2011 at 12:53 pm #73142I cant imagine the armchair fans on here will be bothered to stage a protest, unless is was some sort of facebook campaign

Got me thinking (as I haven’t heard of any injuries in training) that things hadn’t been harmonious31 October 2011 at 2:18 pm #73148I stopped listening to his press stuff years ago.
