Glad to see someone else now understands. ;)
All Whelan wants is the money and with Martinez in charge (who wants to get us into Europe somehow) we could be seeing some more free signings from Spain next month with the majority of the £7m going to Whelan and his family.
We’ll be playing Rochdale in League 1 by 2012/2013
happy days :D

Sephton, stick to playing kiss chase in the playground, mate.
Of course we will Sephton. He’s been fleecing us for years.
If Whelan had never got involved in the club, we’d be right up there with the big clubs now.
There’s a difference between getting involved, and letting a fantastic football club burn at your feet after so much hard work to achieve Premiership status.20 December 2010 at 11:22 pm #53689that is perhaps why they “looked” at diame and didnt sign him – it would indicate that perhaps they agree with what i said in my first post and they think he’s second rate as well.As I said in my earlier post, they all rated him, but nobody would touch him because of his heart problem.
Of maybe you did tip ’em off eh? ;)

Yes heart problem – never passed a medical

If Whelan had not bailed the club out all those years ago, the highest we could have hoped to achieve would have been promotion to Division One.
Our best players need to be sold each year to keep to club running. If we don’t, we’ll go the same way as Portsmouth.

what you said standish is pure speculation as the reason they didnt sign him –
what i said is not speculation – he is at best second rate.
standish you know as well as everbody else knows if mc carthy was fit diame would not be getting a game -as i said in my last post he looks on first sight decent but he gives nothing to the side and his last performances at west ham and everton have further enhanced that opinion.

Loudmouth what I say is not speculation, it’s what I was told.
What you say is not speculation, it’s opinion.
No, I agree McCarthy would be my first choice, but also in my opinion, Diame does have a lot of ability. Perhaps we are not the team for him, like with Landzaat – who I also thought could have been a very good player in the right team.

What you say is not speculation, it’s opinion.true, but is it not also opinion when i say messi is the best – it is observation on seeing a player perform.

now didnt i say that when i compared him to dinning, francis, jarrett and landzaat ?

It was obvious your previous post was sarcastic and if you would care to re-read what you previously quoted me on you would get the picture. The club is going downhill very slowly, but surely, we’ll be an ordinary Football League club again – hoping one day to be a Prem club again.
It may be hard for everyone to understand but the fact is that Dave Whelan has given up on Wigan Athletic !
21 December 2010 at 1:26 am #53705Well I rate Diame good’un imo.
But! with playing 1 upfront the midfield players must bang a few goals in,trouble is their not on a regular basis!and there lie’s our problem under Bobbys system. :mrgreen:21 December 2010 at 1:30 am #53706Well I rate Diame good’un imo.

‘as well as speculating on the reasons it is also heresay’
So, a bloke dressed in a suit with a Legia tie, in Legia’s stadium, talking to other Legia staff is introduced as one of their scouts, and tells me they (plus two other clubs) didn’t sign Diame because of his health, and you say it is hearsay?‘true, but is it not also opinion when i say messi is the best – it is observation on seeing a player perform.’
I’ve seen Ronaldo play, and I think he’s the best. Is that not opinion? Or maybe my view is opinion, but yours is factually correct.‘so despite your protestations even you think mccarthy is ahead of diame – and mccarthy is an ordinary player albeit one with loads of potential – so you agree with me then diame despite ability is second rate ?’
My protestations were that Diame is a good player, which I think he is. In my opinion however, McCarthy is a very good young player and a better player or better suited to the way Wigan play, so in answer, no, I don’t agree with you.‘now didnt i say that when i compared him to dinning, francis, jarrett and landzaat ?’
I brought up Landzaat because you mentioned him. And come on, can you really compare a Dutch international to Francis, Jarrett or Dinning?21 December 2010 at 1:59 am #53710It was obvious your previous post was sarcastic and if you would care to re-read what you previously quoted me on you would get the picture. The club is going downhill very slowly, but surely, we’ll be an ordinary Football League club again – hoping one day to be a Prem club again.

So you think Whelan is selling N’Zogbia because he’s lost interest?
He lost interest over twelve months ago. He still has to sell players to keep the club afloat and so he can sell it.

Yeah, I agree with that but haven’t we sold enough players ?No. The club is still losing money and without Prem football, it’ll lose even more. Maybe it’s the wages of the players, though I doubt it because even though we may feel some players (past and present) are overpaid … we need to compare ourselves to other clubs around us and look at what their lads are on.
Tired now, i’ll continue this debate in the morning. :)
21 December 2010 at 12:24 pm #53719I think Diame is a good player when he has the ball & in the tackle. My big problem with him is that I like to see a midfielder who loses possession, or is pushing forward to support an attack which breaks down, bust a gut to get back to help out his defence – for me a that’s the role of a midfielder. Help out when defending & help out when going forward
So what riles me with Diame is watching him (when he does lose the ball or pushes forward to support an attack that breaks down) trot back at a leisurely pace like he hasn’t got a feckin care in the world
“All Whelan wants is the money and with Martinez in charge (who wants to get us into Europe somehow) we could be seeing some more free signings from Spain next month with the majority of the £7m going to Whelan and his family.”
In replay to Sephton’s post above – I don’t know who will come in during January or how much they will cost but to say the majority of the £7mill will go to Whelan & his family when that same man authorised spending over £10mill on 2 strikers in the summer (when our income from sales was negligible) is takin the pish somewhat
