I think I’d let Kellett go – didn;t really impress me (when fit) at Lge 1 level so if we go up I don’t think he’s good enough for the Championship

McDonald has had a setback but played last week in that Cup Final v Mansfield so I’m guessing he’s not far off. he also signed a new deal so there’s your like for like with Perkins

Reece James I like & I think we look better attacking down the left with him in that we do with Elder. I’d prefer to keep James & let Elder go back

Fulton looks alright from the brief bits I’ve seen of him but looks a squad player at this level if everyone’s fit so not sure I’d want him at a higher level (anyone brought in should be better than what is already here)

I’d move heaven & earth to get Walton back here next season

That’s a fair shout there Donny.
Walton would certainley be good enough, but he isn’t our player.
I would keep Dunkley as he has come on great after a shaky start.
Bruce and MacDonald should also be good enough if the latter ever gets fully fit again.
Reece James and Jamie Jones would also be on my retained list and possibly Walker as we haven’t seen enough yet to say he’s not good enough.
Colclough and Cole are also worth risking.
10 new players in the summer should do it, so its business as usual.

That wasn’t the reason why we got relegated last season. The squad that got promoted from Lge1 wasn’t good enough for the Championship
The problem was that Caldwell jettisoned some of the wrong players (eg Morsy), sidelined others (eg Jaaskelainen) & the new guys (eg Bogdan) were shite.
On top of that after conceding a few early doors he changed his tactics & became inflexible in his approach to games
Joyce being appointed just compounded the problem.

For me we mustn’t get sentimental about things & if players aren’t good enough for that level they should be let go – take Jacobs as an example. He’s had numerous chances at Championship level (including with us) & not produced the goods consistently enough in any of them. There’s also been times this season where he has suffered big dips in form (like he did last time out in Lge1). He’ll be 27 early next season and if he was gonna show he was good enough for that level he would have done so by now.
A similar (though weaker) argument could be made against Grigg.
And in reality how many of those flogged, released or loaned out have turned out to be really successful where they’ve wound up at?? Probably Morsy at Barnsley & the lad up at Dundee (now Celtic)

The club shouldn’t look at things sentimentally & make choices based on facts and not emotion
