I’ve never known a club lose so many players in 1 foul swoop. Is it about 13 in total that have gone and that’s before a couple of prize assets are poached.
I feel sorry for Coyle, this is a not a continuation , this is a mass exodus. And If we lose 1 or 2 of the main players it wont even a re-building job as there will be nothing to build round !.
Also, what’s happened to the backroom staff ?. I haven’t heard any news on Jones and the rest of the crew , are they off as well ?.
I had a chat with my Old Man and said if the majority of the squad stayed I was going to back them to go up. As you say it’s an exodus and it’s not finished yet and Whelan wants 9 new players and a bigger squad to cope with Europe :woohoo:
I think we can say that we’ve got higher priorities than the Europa League. This is going to be a season of change.
We’ve already had some discussion about Coyle’s tactical skills and training methods. But his time in charge at Wigan is likely to be defined by the players he signs before the transfer window closes.
It’s going to be a difficult but urgent task, and still more players are likely to leave. He will then have to blend the new players into a team. It will be asking a great deal of him to lead out a new squad and give a good performance at Wembley.
Fans will need patience this season. As we have seen, many haven’t got a lot of patience, understanding or sympathy.
The likes of Di santo,Stam,etc wont be missed at all,just a pity caldwell isnt one of the departing :cheer:

We’ll see how Caldwell gets on in the Championship. The first thing is to get him fit. He was Player of the Season twelve months ago.
And Di Santo would have found chances far easier to come by in the Championship.
Ideally, we need players who can succeed in the Championship, take us up and then grow into the Premier League. Any suggestions for Coyle? I would have a look at the Blackpool defence.

You’d need a very clear crystal ball to predict our starting eleven in the Championship on 3rd August – and in the Community Shield the next weekend.

There’s no guarantee that whoever Coyle brings in us going to be anywhere near as good as those who have left were – especially if his signing of the likes of Mears, Ngog, Eagles & preference of Bogdan over Al Habsi & Jaskelinen is anything to go by

We have been linked with him for the last 3 managers. His dad must be a Wiganer or summat.
