Every other post on here at present seems to be copied directly from other sites. I have the internet-webby thing myself, hence why I’m on here now.

Here’s a link that brings up virtually everything posted on the net about Wigan Athletic. So fill your boots (and not this site with sh1te):

Really? You don’t care that you are spoiling the enjoyment of this forum for a great many of its members?

Do you know, we’d have a half-decent forum if only we would get rid of the odd gobshyte. And I’m led to believe it it’s quite easy to get rid of them.

He’s only trying to help, maybe he should just post all of ‘his stuff’ in 1 thread, wouldn’t that help ? ;) :| :?

Griff, I couldn’t agree more. Ever other thread is just a link or a copy and paste job from another site, it’s doing my nut in. We can all access Sky Sports, we don’t need it publishing on here too. I don’t see how, even after everyone finds it really annoying, he still thinks ‘Yeah, that’s interseting news, I’ll post that on Cockney Latic, oh and that, and that, and that…’ Even stuff like ‘Palacios considered quitting’ Who gives one?

Ah well, if you can’t beat ’em….

Wigan Athletic’s Simon Haworth has been linked with a move back to his hometown club Cardiff City.

The big Welshman however crushed these links. He said “I’m definitely staying here at Wigan and have got another year left. I’ve been back home to Cardiff over the summer and read stuff in the local papers down there about them being interested in me but Wigan haven’t come to me and told me there has been an offer, so I’m treating it as speculation.”

Simon is looking forward to his next season in a Latics shirt and has set himself the target of scoring 20+ goals, “There’s five quality strikers challenging for a place upfront and I’ll have to work hard to make sure I’m first choice. Last season there was a lot of chopping and changing up front and perhaps that didn’t help us score goals. On a personal note, I was in and out of the team last season.”

“I started off well, scored a few goals, but then picked up the hamstring injury which cost me three months. I came back, got sent off at Millwall, came back again, and then didn’t play that much under Colin Greenall.”

“Steve Bruce brought me back again towards the end of the season for a few games and it all finished disappointingly against Reading. Paul Jewell has come in now, and he had a chat with all the lads yesterday morning when we reported back.”

“He told us that everyone starts with a clean slate and from what I have seen so far, he’s strict with the discipline. We were told that everyone will have to fight for their place and all the lads are prepared to do that.”

Hopefully a change of attitude from the big lad and hopefully he’ll bag those 20+ goals next year as we fire ourselves into division one!

              …. join them ?

Wigan Athletic are reportedly set to join the race to snap up Heart of Midlothian midfielder Andy Driver.Andy, who only today was given the FIFA OK to play for Scotland, despite already having appeared for the England Under 21’s, is also interesting Latics’ Premier League rivals West Ham United.Saddleworth born Driver is contracted to Hearts until the summer of 2013 but it is believed that a bid of £2.5 million could secure his services.

                BIG NEWS GUYS!!!!

                Wigan 3-1 Reading

Wigan won promotion to the Premiership with a comfortable win over Reading

After a promising start, Lee McCulloch slotted home from close range on 18 minutes following good work by Jason Roberts and Ian Breckin.

Roberts doubled the lead moments later having been played in by Nathan Ellington, who capped the win with a late header from Jason Jarrett’s cross.

The result ended Reading’s own play-off hopes but Steve Sidwell turned in Dave Kitson’s cross for a consolation goal.

Wigan were only elected to the Football League in 1978 and the win caps a remarkable climb through the game’s tiers and sparked scenes of mass celebration at the JJB Stadium.

Both teams came into the game with plenty to play for, Wigan knowing a win would see them go up while the visitors needed points to keep up their push for the play-offs.

But despite the size of the prize at stake, Wigan betrayed few signs of nerves and started by far the better.

Reading failed to test home keeper John Filan until the closing moments of the first half when Nicky Forster missed two glorious opportunities.

By then they were already two goals adrift with their play-off hopes in tatters.

Early sloppy defending almost gifted Ellington a chance to open the scoring, and the Latics looked particularly dangerous down the right flank which was the source of the opening goal.

Roberts was played in and pulled the ball back after a powerful run to the bye line, Breckin flicked it on with a neat back heel and McCulloch was on hand to score.

Reading were still reeling when Wigan struck again, Ellington linking with Roberts on the edge of the area before the latter breezed past the wrong-footed Ibrahima Sonko and sent a slide-rule right-footed finish beyond Marcus Hahnerman.

Breckin spurned a free header to increase the lead before Forster missed his opportunities to cut the deficit, first miscuing a volley in the area before planting a header into Filan’s grateful grasp.

Those forays triggered a greater urgency in Reading’s display after the break, but they could not breach a Wigan rearguard that boasts the best defensive record in the division.

The hosts were happy to sit back, draw the sting out of the intermittent attacks and play out time before the promotion party kicked off.

Ellington’s 85th-minute header – his 24th goal of the campaign – ensured those celebrations went off with a swing, despite Sidwell’s injury-time goal.

And the other one he was mainly referring to was you.

We should perhaps have a separate forum for you young kids so that you can learn the correct board etiquette, perhaps with JamesC and Zoggy as the more grown-up adminstrators  .

You could be rude to each other whilst learning the ropes in a safe environment. We could call it the Creche Coarse, or summert.
