You are right Bicky, it is Whelan and his lack of ambition that it to blame for the overall situation, but this idiot picks the team and chooses the tactics.
What I don’t understand is how Dave Whelan can allow Martinez, who is so obviously out of his depth continue without the help of proper coaches.
He sacked Graham Barrow all those years ago because he wasn’t good enough for a 3rd division team, but now employs him as a PL coach.
I know our players are not PL standard, but how can you expect them to respond to a coach with the track record akin to that of a Sunday League coach.
It is all becoming laughable and very embarrassing.

It’s hard to compare the different roles, just because someone was a bad manager, it doesn’t make them a bad coach necessarily.

and who do we get in? somebody like Mark Hughes that will probly do well and keep us up and spend a fortune, then in 12-18 months when we’ve put him back on the footballing map fire off, take half our players and leave us back to sqaure one…oh hang on i think this has happend before!!!

He wouldn’t be allowed to spend a fortune, that’s why the likes of Hughes won’t come here, why we have Martinez and why Whelan won’t sack him.
so you think with no money to spend we are going to get someone better? i don’t think so
