He sacked Graham Barrow all those years ago because he wasn’t good enough for a 3rd division team, but now employs him as a PL coach.
Horc, you make a decent point but look at Chris Hutchings, he’s been an average manager (at best) for Walsall but as an assistant manager he was rather good actually. It’s hard to compare the different roles, just because someone was a bad manager, it doesn’t make them a bad coach necessarily.[/quote]
You may be right to a certain extent, but I am sure PL players need PL coaches and Graham Barrow and Graham Jones are nowhere near PL standard coaches.
Martinez as a manager may be able manage the players, but I feel if he doesn’t accept he needs help, or even gets the offer of help from experienced PL coaches the the end of our PL life will be over very soon.
I still think the best option would be to get rid of all three now while there is time for new people to come in and get in at least 6 players while the window is still open.
7 January 2012 at 10:31 pm #77270But where are these people going to spontaneously appear from? Let’s face it, we’re bound to get relegated eventually and all we can do is delay it. Whoever is in charge will only be able to keep us up, as soon as Bruce threatened to achieve anything better than that, the team fell apart and we were back to square one.
And in reference to the coaches, what proof do you have that Jones and Barrow aren’t PL standard coaches? Jewell managed just as well with Hutchings, Seagreaves etc who has just as little PL experience.
7 January 2012 at 10:33 pm #77273now be very carefull if the fans call for bobs head
you know our leader will walk away from the club
funny how that would work out seeing no body is interested in buying us at present time
i think he would sell to thugby chairman to piss us of and have last laughHe said that when we wanted benson out, guess what hes still here.

Well they have done a great job so far, not.

I think the shyte the players show us week in week out is enough proof that the management and coaching staff are not up to PL standard.
Yes Jewell and Hutchings managed it in the first season in this league, but you must remember that was also a far better squad of players than the shyte we have now. Whelan was still interested then also.7 January 2012 at 10:39 pm #77286I think it’s got to the stage where it doesn’t matter who comes in. I think the players would respond to a different voice. I’ve never been an advocate of this style of play anyway. We have some exciting, athletic players who have a lot more to give than they do in this set of systems and tactics.
7 January 2012 at 10:42 pm #77288Is the player’s performance entirely down to the coaches? I think not.
I disagree that the squads of 2005/06 and 2006/07 were better than what we have now, they just had more desire and a better team ethic than we currently have.
Granted, that’s probably down to Martinez to motivate his players but he’s a different character to Jewell. I’ll accept that maybe the coaching staff seem poor motivators but this doesn’t mean they’re bad coaches.
7 January 2012 at 10:50 pm #77292I’d class them as bad coaches. They might know the UEFA playbook inside out and can do tons of phases of play and 20×20 metre square drills but they can’t get their message across. It’s not like we are signing players under this regime and turning them into worldbeaters.
7 January 2012 at 10:55 pm #77294We seemed to have a good scouting set up 7 years back that picked up players like Valencia, Chimbonda, Palacios. That seems to have failed us recently.
7 January 2012 at 10:55 pm #77295It’s not like we are signing players under this regime and turning them into worldbeaters.Yeah, you’ve got to be a pretty bad coach to fail in that department haven’t you?
7 January 2012 at 11:00 pm #77300i feel the late john benson spotted most of our previous stars
god bless him7 January 2012 at 11:04 pm #77302Anonymous
for me whoever is in charge will have no money to spend, a very tight wage structure and will have to sell theyre best player at the end of the year.
survival is all we will ever achive
Whealan is’nt going to put any more cash in and who can blame him, we don’t know what is costs to run a football club
7 January 2012 at 11:05 pm #77303What really bothers me is that I think the squad we have now is Championship class at best and should we go down we will lose the ones who are Kings amongst shit ! This will leave us with a worse squad as they wont be replaced and we will struggle in the Championship ! I am confident that if we go down we will not even finish in the top half of the Championship !
7 January 2012 at 11:23 pm #77319I’ve never been an advocate of this style of play anyway.I dont think he’ll jack it in because you don’t like it Danny, to be fair. ;)
