We are going to struggle big time this year, but the team who are left need our support. I think if we go down lets not go down as the joke team with no support and no clue.
I think if we go down it might be a wake up call to our chairman and all his staff, and I don’t think it would be a bad thing to go down. It never did bolton or blackburn any harm.
There’s not a cat in hell’s chance that you’d go down as a joke. That is exclusively reserved for Derby. (Thankyou Mr Jewell!!!).
However I disagree about your comparison to Bolton & Blackburn. When they went down they had a true fan base in excess of 15,000, whereas your fanbase would collapse if you were relegated.
Fortunately, despite you being a selling club, there are plenty worse sides this season, so it would take something catastrophic to happen if you went down this year.
Our support would dwindle if we went down I agree but our fanbase was around the 9000 mark before we came up to the premier. So a collapse is way of the mark when its only from 12000 possibly back to 9000.
But my point is not about fans or fanbase (look at newcastle and leeds there super fantastic fans and support got them success?) my point was that as a club it would be a wake up call.I honestly think it would bring back old fans who loved it when we were competing with teams in our league, and it would renew excitement for our football club. Lets be honest there are 6 or 7 top teams in our league, 3 or 4 big clubs who will always do well, and then the teams who are trying to survive.
When we were coming up through the leagues it was great to go to every game expecting a result, but now its that we are expected to lose against 50% of teams we play, home or away.
The premier league is a fantastic place to be as a football club but it is also a terrible place to be if you are not top 8 because it is all about survival.
The thing is , the window is now shut , so this is our squad until January.
Whatever you may think about DW , love him or hate him , we all know he likes to take gambles. You can’t get where he has in life without taking numerous chances. I honestly believe that’s what he’s doing with us. If he can sell our prize assets , replace them with cheap options and STILL stay in the Prem then he’s a winner all ways.
I reckon we will pick points up here and there, and the longer the players have getting used to the new system , the more we will get. But for a dodgy pen ( it was by the way ) we nearly got a point at EFC !!!!
If however we are struggling come January , then I reckon DW will open the ” warchest ” and spend enough to secure another season in the greed league. I am confident he will back Bob , whatever happens.
Anyway , I’d rather be supporting our squad of underdogs than be a glory hunting , season ticket in the pub , big 4 JCL.
the dodgy pen was a clear pen at everton and the most blinkered of supporters can see that. We were right in line andhe for some reason took him clean down.
Whelan has got us here he will keep us here, and if he does not bring on PNE, Blackpool etc etc…
We are punching above our weight in the premier league due to Whelan so lets just keep the faith.

Why are you coming out with hypothetical stuff like that ! It was a stone wall pen ! We should have put it to bed seconds earlier ( 5 on 2 ) ! We were clearly 2nd best for long periods and should really have taken advantage of a team clearly off kilter with their own transfer problems ! :ugeek:

worriers v leeds c.20k (albeit cheap and free tickets)perhaps a sniff of wembley,anyway mutty you and your mate tightarse came on telling us how good your support is.
worriers v warrington c. 12k (cup semi final) a game less that 10 minutes away for wolves and 25 mins away for worriers couldnt sell out a 13500 stadium for the biggest game for both clubs in years.
worriers v wolves c.11k (league match less than 2 weeks after the massive support leeds game) now it seems to me losing 10 thousand in 2 weeks is a real collapse.
