Not content with buying players with money they didn’t have and then not paying their wages (or paying anybody anything, for that matter) they now want to have their own little transfer window opening in which they can sell those players!
They have some front, I’ll give ’em that!
18 February 2010 at 6:03 pm #23063So Portsmouth didn’t believe the authorities were serious about winding them up in January, when they had ample opportunity to generate funds from player sales.
18 February 2010 at 6:34 pm #23071Didn’t they have 2 “serious” potential new investors according to what they told the High Court last week? They seem to have failed to materialise, funnily enough.
18 February 2010 at 6:41 pm #23073Apparantly its 4 now
They will be getting a new ground next
18 February 2010 at 7:25 pm #23086It’s going to be interesting to see what happens, once the season has finished.
Kicked out of the Premier league?
18 February 2010 at 7:35 pm #23090Has anyone else wondered if Pompey are given special permission to sell players, who would they actually sell the players to if the transfer window is shut for everyone else?
Or maybe they’ll just be able to sell the players to anyone who has the money. How much is Kanu, and is he any good with housework?
18 February 2010 at 7:37 pm #23092Has anyone else wondered if Pompey are given special permission to sell players, who would they actually sell the players to if the transfer window is shut for everyone else?I think they wanted the ability to sell to anyone, in other words just open up the window for everyone – but you can only buy from Pompey.
I can just see Sepp and his merry men going for that one, can’t you?

I’m assuming this has to be cleared by the FA,Prem league UEFA and FIFA ?

Latest twist in the tail West Haammmmmmmm chairmon David Gold as offered to lend Pompey £10 million I wonder why ,could it be that they have collected 4 points of Pompey and if they go bust it lands the spammers right back in the doo doo
19 February 2010 at 7:10 pm #23213So another club’s chairman offers to lend money to Portsmouth, to enable them to avoid selling players and be able to use all their current squad in matches against other relegation candidates, this club has played Portsmouth twice and would lose ground on other strugglers if Pompey were liquidated. Is anyone suprised that the club is West Ham Utd?
19 February 2010 at 7:13 pm #23215Surely it contravens some rule about having financial control/interest in more than one club?
Maybe not in law, but surely in spirit?
19 February 2010 at 7:17 pm #23216Exactly Griff, WHU have already played Pompey twice. Pompey have to play the likes of us, Burnley, Wolves, Hull. Gold/Sullivan’s money might mean they dont go ahead with trying to get their own transfer window and can use a full-strength team in those fixtures. Benefits all clubs who dont have to play them again, WHU being one.
19 February 2010 at 7:29 pm #23217There are rumours the potential buyers are little more than planted stories to buy time, not that this is a suprise.
When all’s said and done, the big losers if Portsmouth go to the wall are West Ham, therefore the Premier League establishment will help them out.

You couldn’t possibly be insinuating that Peter Storrie-Teller is making things up could you?
