I was optimistic about this game after the performance against Boro last week. First half, we did well and deserved to go one up but some woeful, slow motion defending led to an immediate equaliser. We huffed and puffed after that and, though we had a couple of near misses, we never really looked like scoring again.
Wednesday were poor too and it worries me that we simply didn’t have enough to beat them. Individual disappointing performances by Boyce, Ramis, McManaman and Forshaw, who I said was going to turn out to be a good ‘un for us. Maybe time for a rethink on that. He needs too long to think about what he’s going to do sometimes and the mercurial McManaman had a game to forget. I’m not sure what instructions are given to Fortune before the game. Win it, hold it up, then what? I don’t doubt his effort but he’s our lone striker and doesn’t score. Rivera and Delort are not viable alternatives.
We’re struggling and any visions of grandeur about making the playoffs are on a distant horizon at the moment.
30 November 2014 at 12:26 am #136372I think your being harsh on macca he had three men on him all day boyce is getting on and forshaw is one of many bad signings by rosler
30 November 2014 at 12:40 am #136374Nah, he’s not above criticism. He was predictable and the odd time he beat his man, he ran it out.

How many times did Callum beat that defender, knock a decent ball in only to find nobody at the end of it. Forshaw was millimeters away from tapping in on one occasion.
That Sheff Wednesday left full back had a mare and looked in tears at one point.Yes Macca ran it out on two occasions, but provided some really good balls into the box, skinning the poor little left back time and time again, shaving the post in the last 10 mins.
We were the better team today, we looked quality but once again lacked that killer instinct. If we were shyte I’d hold my hands up but we are not. Give Malky a few more weeks and I’m sure we will turn the corner. Nobody wants this league, just look at the table, OK we are second bottom, but we are not out of reach from the mid table teams.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!30 November 2014 at 1:13 pm #136383and forshaw is one of many bad signings by roslerHow can he win Div1 Player Of The Year award then be so poor on a regular basis ?. If we drop down keep him , it must be his level
30 November 2014 at 1:57 pm #136386Not a clue why hes been so bad and maybe div 1 is his level time will tell
30 November 2014 at 2:51 pm #136387Maybe if we signed players at the end of the season and they had a decent closed season of gelling together it would make a difference. We signed Forshaw weeks after our fiasco of a closed season and he hasn’t been involved in matches at Brentford.
30 November 2014 at 2:53 pm #136388Sorry, he hadn’t been involved in matches at Brentford.

I did watch it but obviously not with the same rose-coloured specs that you did ;) I reckon we’re at the bottom of the barrel now and I agree that there’s a good chance we’ll be a few places higher in the weeks to come.
Someone else that ‘didn’t’ watch the game was the guy that put Boyce in the Sunday Mirror Championship team of the day

What do we do with him in the meantime because he is shite!

Now you’re talking lad. I knew you would mellow in the end ;)
3 December 2014 at 1:57 am #136423I would say that Espinoza has played better than Forshaw so far this season!
3 December 2014 at 2:42 am #136424None of our players are anywhere near as good as any of Paul Jewels Third Division side.
That is the benchmark for what is required. The present side would struggle to get promoted next season if we were to get relegated this season.3 December 2014 at 12:21 pm #136425None of our players are anywhere near as good as any of Paul Jewels Third Division side.

The bar has been set quite high though, with this one. It’s neck and neck with Horc’s “anyone off this board could get this team in the play-offs” post.
A vintage year chaps, a vintage year
