If Portsmouth go bang in the next seven days , this is the time the high court has given them as a final deadline to pay 7.8 million in taxes , then all the teams who have got points off them this season will have them deducted.
This will leave us better off as we lost to them while some of our relegation rivals drew or won…
Cant be bothered to do a full revised table , would be interesting to see though.
11 February 2010 at 12:12 pm #22385I like your optimism
But can I be the first to say this will NEVER happen
11 February 2010 at 12:26 pm #22386I like your optimismBut can I be the first to say this will NEVER happen
Are Portsmouth above the law????????
11 February 2010 at 12:36 pm #22389no but the Premier League think they are and they will never let it happen
11 February 2010 at 12:39 pm #22392no but the Premier League think they are and they will never let it happenThey can only stop it if they pay the tax bill………
11 February 2010 at 12:46 pm #22395All this has been discussed on another thread, including the expunging of their records
HMRC are the ones pushing for the full payment and if they continue to press their case and demand their money, it could well happen.
The Premier League may well think they are above the law but i think they may meet their match with HMRC.
11 February 2010 at 1:08 pm #22400The Premier League have the so called best league in the world not only in football but other sports as well, the Premier League need to maintain credability, the Premier League are sponsored by Barclays (Barclays were one of the main creditors of PFC), the Premier League need to preserve their integrity (they cannot do that if one of their own goes under) – there are so many reasons and without going too deep
PFC are or will be due a guaranteed income for the next 3 years from the Premier League
So if no independent / third party saviour comes in the Premier League will supply the funds
11 February 2010 at 1:23 pm #22401So if no independent / third party saviour comes in the Premier League will supply the fundsStinks if they do. I can understand EPL not wanting them to be liquidated, but going into Administration should be OK. It preserves the 20-team league and if they subsequently are relegated, so what? Chances are they would have been relegated anyway and 3 teams go each season as a matter of course.
11 February 2010 at 1:33 pm #22402it all adds to the conspiracy theories which is why forums like this are so entertaining
The Tevez affair – couldnt have the happy Hammers getting relegated could we – the Trevor Brooking connection at the FA
The Phil Dowd refereeing display at Arsenal
At the time – the whole question of referees against us when we had outlived our first season and as a little club were not wanted anymore
The big 4 getting all the decisions as its not commercially viable to let a small team in
Away teams never getting penalties at Old Trafford
Ferguson added time
etc etc etc !!!!!!!11 February 2010 at 4:25 pm #22415Basically it would affect the following relegation rivals if they went out the league looking at previous results:
West ham -4 points
Bolton -3 points
Sunderland -2 points
Hull -1 point11 February 2010 at 6:37 pm #22428IF Portsmouth do go under, we lose a home game! Does that mean Im going to get some money back on my season ticket!?
