Derby, Villa, Palace, Southampton and West Brom are all sniffing after him. The latter 3 reportedly having made approaches to LATICS.

I will be very surprised if he stays. The price being banded about is 1.5 Million, which really disappoints me, if true. We won’t get a replacement for that kind of money.

No way the tics will sell him and he seems to be enjoying his football at the minute

It’s nor surprise that clubs are after him & no surprise if he goes – this is Latics after all & we know that the players all have a price & profits on players is what helps provide funding for new signings.

We also know that every player has their price.

However, I’m with Vat – if that “price” for Powell is as low as £1.5mill then it’s an absolute disgrace when you consider some of the prices that clubs are paying at the moment for bang average players

Exactly, mate, that price is a disgrace. He’s not yet 24, and in the current market, you’d think that no less than 4 or 5 million would be enough. OK, if then the player said he wanted the move, you’d understand them ‘reluctantly accepting’ 3.5 to 4 million… Which would be disappointing, but you’d say “ah well”.
But when the price being banded about is a straight 1.5 million, there’s something wrong somewhere. If. He goes for that, it’s a joke. What next? Morsy going for 300 grand and Burn for 200? It’s a joke.

All those clubs are bigger than us. But bloody well make them pay!

What is a “fair” price for Powell ?
I wouldn’t take anything less than 5 mill with add ons, based upon appearances.
But if we are going to do a deal, then it’s got to allow sufficient time to get a replacement; so if I were handling the transfer I would tell interested clubs that the starting price is 5 mill and final offers have to be on the table by cop 24th Jan. Bowt time we started to call the shots !

Think you’re probably better just calming down a bit. It’s silly season.

Doubt the lads got the energy for a transfer anyroad

          Doubt Powell’s going anywhere.

He’s go no ambition and doesn’t want to leave the north west, plus he nearly quit football two seasons ago because he couldn’t be bothered with the pressure.

Promotion is worth a lot more to us than £1.5m so if he goes anywhere, I’ll be very surprised.

interesting to see if he plays tomorrow, that would be a very strong indication. I think we should be looking at that for an indication of what is likely to happen.
He is injury prone and if the club are looking to cash in it would make sense for him not to play. If they want him to stay or are relaxed about it then keep playing him.
I am sure that all the fans of the teams who we will target for a replacement will feel the same about us approaching them as we do about the teams approaching us for Powell.
What will be will be, I reckon we will go up with or without him, sadly I think the problem will be next season, he is one of a handful that are good enough to play in the championship when we do go up.

I doubt he’ll leave but if so surely not having our pockets picked .If these teams who by the way are facing their own relegation problems desperately need Powell then make the tossers pay.1.5 mill for a 23 yr old…..5 mill minimum…or do like Rovers who allegedly turned down 4 mill from Norwich… to do one.!!

I’ve heard similar, that he doesn’t play football because he loves it, but because he’s good at it and it’s a job to him.
I doubt he’s that bothered about putting himself into a pressured environment somewhere else.

The answer is simple ring City up to put in a pretend bid then Utd will come in with an 100m offer plus Juan Mata. Job done.
