£5 million ?, considering what Derby have just paid Reading for George Evans I think there a couple of million short.
With 1 year left on his contract I cant see him stopping that’s unless Latics are negotiating a new contract which I very much doubt especially with this farce of a takeover hanging over us.
31 July 2018 at 4:37 pm #170677I would think the current owners (whelan familly) are not in a possition to sell any of the clubs assets at present time unless they get permission from the new owners to do so
But i could be wrong1 August 2018 at 1:17 am #170687What did Brighton offer in January, was it 10m? If we sell him this window for less then it will be a poor bit of business.
1 August 2018 at 1:11 pm #170690No disrespect to Nick but Villa have supposedly the 3rd biggest backing in British football now. If true surely they will ba targeting better quality players especially as they are chasing the golden ticket. Grealish is possibly staying they no longer have to sell. If Nick goes there he will be a bit part player but he is a Villa fan so what should he do. I hope he stays with us but its not looking good.

1 August 2018 at 1:33 pm #170694He’s only 1 year left on his contract if bigger/richer clubs come calling then the only thing we can do is get the best price possible like we did with Wildschut. Which leaves us no time to replace.
Problem is, who’s in charge to authorise ins and outs ?, Farsical1 August 2018 at 1:51 pm #170698Yes we reportedly turned down an offer of around £10m in the last transfer window and so if he does go for half that then it’s laughable really isn’t it!

Problem is, who’s in charge to authorise ins and outs ?, FarsicalThe manager chooses who we sign and who we’d like to keep, and Jonathan Jackson still controls the finances until further notice.

I read that somewhere also. I hope it is true, as on his day he is the player that makes us tick. If we can get a new contract sorted for him and he and WAFC have a half decent season his price will spiral from the reputed £5M Villa have offered.
When you look at some of the fees clubs have paid over the summer, then Powell is easily worth double Villas offer.1 August 2018 at 5:01 pm #170711Too right he’s worth more and we would still have to replace him and find a salary, so if we can rustler up the cash from somewhere it must be worth paying him what he could earn if he left or somewhere near it.
3 August 2018 at 7:30 pm #1707494 August 2018 at 12:50 am #170761Going to be announced shortly apparently well we’ll see, if he plays tomorrow he’s going no where if he doesnt he’s gone and will be back with us in 12 months on loan .
4 August 2018 at 1:18 am #170764He better be playing tomorrow but if he doesn’t all the happy clappers will be agreeing with everything about it. They’ll have their reasons why it’s the right thing.
