At the risk of sounding like Bobbyswigan im beginning to think our league position is looking a tad dangerous. Im not at all one bit in the same mind set as losers like bobbyswigan however i am a realist. After todays results im looking at the table and being 3 points off the drop zone at this stage to me seems worrying. I made a couple of mental notes before the season started and after the transfer window closed and now im afraid my thoughts are becoming a slight reality and everything depends on January transfers and relegation to me.
My first worry was the number of home points we would rack up as away wins would be difficult to obtain but its kind of an even keel at the moment, Although i believe away wins will be few and far between from now until the end of the season (barring January), i make it 3 possibly 4. Our home form hasn’t been outstanding but maybe good enough. I love the way Roberto is trying to get us to play but he needs the start of next season with half of his plans in place to make a good go of it i reckon.
The second worry was (as most tic fans) not signing a striker or two before the deadline. I made a few predictions on team goals after August and i make it
Rodallega – 10+ maybe
Scotland – 3
N’Zogbia – 3
Scharner – 3/4
Rest of Midfield – 5/6
Defence – 3/4Thats not a lot of goals in this league unles we get a good amount of 1-0 wins and the rate teams are scoring goals this season we will need a few more.
As i said im not an old bore im just being realistic and im expecting something like a 4-0 defeat tomorrow then it’s on form Sunderland at home. After that the fixture list seems to be a possible win then a certian defeat, The morale of the players is going to be shot after christmas if we don’t get some quality in the side, Or maybe just a bit of experience to edge us over the line but im bracing myself for a tough run in. Netherless i will still back the boys and Roberto to the hilt and if we go down the so be it.

22 November 2009 at 2:46 am #13304I did state a while ago that I thought we’d end up with something like 42 points.
As we reach a third of the season gone next weekend, I still think that. Going off our points picked up so far, if we do similar in the other 2 thirds of the season, 42 points will be about right.
Will that be enough? I think so. If we do finish with 42 points, and not far from the drop, I genuinely believe that we will have underachieved, and would expect a big improvement next season.
Perhaps this season is for Roberto to lay the ‘foundations’?
