Stunning win for the Latics !
19 April 2014 at 11:25 am #130015It’s been a great season for Burnley. They need two more points to be sure of automatic promotion, though their present total may well be enough.
I’d like Wigan to finish in third or fourth place. Burnley have players injured, while Wigan have players coming back. Wigan have the resources and the incentive to win the game.
19 April 2014 at 12:04 pm #130016Think we have more than enough to beat them and I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to shut up shop to gain a point knowing we are able to take them apart.
I’m going for a 2-1 win up there as I reckon the nerves will start jangling knowing they are in sight of automatic promotion and to be fair they thoroughly deserve it when it eventually comes but I think we will win this game.19 April 2014 at 3:56 pm #130024Dingles ??????
When did Burnley move to Yorkshire then?
19 April 2014 at 4:55 pm #130036Burnley obviously deserve to be were they are in the league, however, they have had more than their fair share of luck with injuries, being able to field their strongest team all season. The first time injuries struck to their key players, the wins drastically reduced. [Ings and Vokes being the main crocks]
They have also scavenged a load of 1-0 wins in games that could have swung either way.
If only Uwe had been with us all season, I think Burnley may have had to be content with the play offs. :(
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!19 April 2014 at 8:05 pm #130044To be fair though, the biggest part of any parachute money for them must be gone by now, they sell their main goal scorer to QPR and they unearth two more for little or no money . (Where would we be now with just ONE striker who could score 20+ in a season ?)
Regardless of how few injuries they have had, they’ve got this far losing only 5 games…. with a relatively small squad…..They’ve got a good manager too.
Fair play I reckon

Shadrack Dingle lives here on Riverside looks exactly the same as he did on tele. Nice bloke actually.

I disagree with the if only bit ! Burnley were 15 points clear of us when Uwe took over and 4 months down the line Burnley are 19 points ahead of us and have also taken 4 points off us! They ground out a good draw at ours and thoroughly deserved their win yesterday. With the squad he has had to work with Dyche deserves all the kudos being aimed at him at this moment!

To be fair to JR, i think his “if only” comment is referring to the fact that if uwe had been with us at the start of the season & therefore starting from scratch, it could have been us rather than burnley in the automatic spots. The fact that burnley have maintained the same points advantage over us from december indicates to me how consistent both teams have been since then.

I just think it is a little unfair on Burnley, they deserve to go up and have been better than us on the whole over the 2 games we played against them !

Fair play & congratulations to them on their promotion. But i too wonder if things would have been different if rosler had of come in at the start of the season rather than midway through.
