Well tomorrow’s the day, hasn’t half come round quick since that bitter-sweet day against the Villa…

I see the bookies have us 6th favourites for relegation promotion.

I’m predicted us to finish 2nd, as in 2004-5. QPR to finish 1st, although there’ll be little between us.

One game doesn’t make or break a season, but tomorrow will be a very good indicator of where we are. Odds are 21/10 Barnsley, 6/4 Latics (draw 12/5). When was the last time we were favourites for an away game?

Even if we don’t get automatic promotion, I’m very confident of a play off place.

Let’s get behind the boys (Gomez included), no exceptions…

    In Owen we trust :cheer:

      That’s an excellent summary Egg…

I really hope we make a big effort in the Europa group phase. Come March/April at the business end is when the Championship will really shape up. Its normally so close.

I think 2nd is a good shout, feeling quite optimistic as most people I speak to are, be good if we can hit the ground running with 3 points tomorrow .

Why did you see the Villa game as being bitter sweet ? (We were already down so I presume that was the bitter ! ) So what was the sweet ? Surely not the non eventful boring draw that meant fuck all to either team ! Living in Leyland myself I would really like to pick your brains some time because you seem to be quite positive to the point of bias ! Almost like a Nob End fan that thinks they are sleeping giants ! Do you go out drinking round Leyland ? I have come across maybe one person that supported Wigan in Leyland and I am pretty sure it wasnt you because he agreed with me that Martinez would fuck us over if we went down ! You however always thought he would do the honourable thing ! He did….

Finish 11th, just too many games to mount any sort of meaningful promotion push, but still a solid return to the Championship which unfortunately still has folk ranting on here.
exit FA cup at first attempt to lower league team at home.
Do ourselves proud in Europa but just fail to make knockout stages.

            1 Community Shield
            46 Championship games
            1 League Cup tie
            1 FA Cup tie
            6 Europa League ties

Surely playing 55 club games – plus travelling to European games – is enough for one season. Cup runs will only add to the load. We couldn’t compete in two competitions last season, when 46 games proved too many. I don’t think our squad is any stronger – I doubt that Coyle will field his first team in all the Europa League games.

The players have their international games too. Incredibly, these begin on 14 August, with Wales v Republic of Ireland and England v Scotland. At least we will be spared the African Nations Cup this season.

There are several affluent Championship clubs who will be tough opponents – plus some impoverished ones fighting for their lives. There will be some very tired players at the end of the season; a top six finish will be a very good achievement.

Add in the factor of the two transfer windows the 30 days left in this one plus the January one there may be major developments in both of them regarding ins and outs personally I think now that bale has gone to madrid there will be plenty of movement in the transfer market including young McCarthy under the spotlight maybe a splash out in January to freshen things up

Yes relegation was the bitter…although being relegated on the last day would have been worse! The sweet was watching the cup being paraded around…

Hands up who ever thought we would see that :woohoo:

Aren’t supporters supposed to be a little bit biased!!

Hardly ever drink in Leyland tbh…the wife wont allow it  We are a bit outnumbered though like you say!
