What dust reckon? First away point/points of season or keep the 100% record up? I will go for 0-1 defeat. Chesterfield are a decent established side in the league despite losing players in the summer. 0-1 at least will show progression from the first two away trips and our side is very much in its infancy and finding its feet.I am not being pessemistic, just realistic and we should expect the ups and downs all season and not expect too much. Stopping the slide and gaining stability is the priority this season and if we do that it is a positivity after last years farcial debacle on and off the field. Come on Latics.
4 September 2015 at 12:28 pm #144573Showing progression would mean getting at least a point and so I will go for the draw! What score? 0-0.

4 September 2015 at 11:23 pm #144579Difficult to predict Wigan at the moment. Won’t be easy this one purely down to us having a totally new team.
They have won one & drawn one at home so if we get a draw that will be ok.
A win would be great though..4 September 2015 at 11:38 pm #144580Could be a change in formation though for satday or will McCann fill in for Morgan in the back three or bring in Barnett  if so a point will do the noo
5 September 2015 at 12:18 am #144581Could be McCann, if it is I hope he plays better than he did at Gillingham..
Just reading some Chesterfield forum and they too have defensive issue’s. If we start the game with a high tempo and get forward quickly who knows?

5 September 2015 at 9:49 pm #144592Progression well and trully shown. Lesson learned though for Gary. Don’t change a winning formation. Don’t revert back to a negative boring one up front. Go to win and play attacking football. Thank goodness Gary is learning though unlike his predecessors. He saw his mistake today and did the right thing and he pulled off an incredible comeback. Who knows we might change this slow build up from the back tactic next. Well done GC and Latics today
Start with two up top at Vale now please.5 September 2015 at 11:15 pm #144593Not many sides win being 2 down with less than 10 mins to play and so I say a big well done for the houdini esque comeback!

Start with two up top at Vale now please.Away from home I think we should start with 1 up top. The idea is to frustrate the opposition, silence the crowd and dictate the game. Then we can make the changes to win the game. Sides have to be flexible these days and not just 442 or whatever. Now that was a problem with some of the predecessors.

If there was ever a game to prove the one up front theory wrong this was it. We just don’t get forward quick enough with the 1 up front format. You’ve got to take the game to the opposition home or away and if you do then you’ve more chance of winning.
