Iv’e been saying this for the past couple of years. But, i always get shot down by numerous people!!!!!

The sky greed, media, stereotypical vendetta driven whopper league is the THRID “best” league in europe for me (in every aspect). The only reason gullible mugs think it’s the “best” is because they have been brainwashed by the whole sky sports billion pound propaganda machine, and also national media etc into thinking it is the best…..(it’s sky’s cash-cow, they will do anything to promote/protect it)

Very badly run (not a patch on bundesliga) and lacking in technical skill (not a patch on la liga)

And please spare me the whole b****hit of “it’s the strength in depth of the league (top to bottom) that makes it the best”!!!! ohh please f**k off….also “munich are 20 points clear, so are barca” (approx)…These 2 teams are still in the champions league and SHOULD reach the final if not drawn in semi……your point is???????

A team at the bottom ALL season, spending £100k a week wages with 17/18k gates in a desperate bid to stay in the league for THE SOLE REASON of increased funding next year…..PATHETIC.

Bundesliga and la liga END OF DEBATE/ARGUMENT/DISCUSSION (anybody who thinks otherwise……don’t forget to renew your sky package next season)

Chelsea won the Champions League last season. This season, there are no Premier League teams in the quarter finals.

I don’t think either statement is a good indicator of the state of the Premier League.

How many teams have bought brand new shiny stadiums and gone backwards in terms of money and divisions. A lot

            Levante and Getafe perhaps?

Like England it’s not always the top teams that are the best financially run.

Like England it’s not always the top teams that are the best financially run.

Barca and Real keep going despite being millions in debt becaus of their massive fan base and global appeal. These are clubs where 30-50,000 turn up when they announce a major signing!

The Premiership is nowhere near as good as it was when we came up in 2005. That Arsenal team, were decent. Chelsea, were strong. (Is Demba Ba fit to lace Drogba’s boots?) United were strong….stronger than now. City were a joke. Under Eriksen and Pearce, they had no chance. Only because of a Sheik’s whim, have they actually won the title.

I think that the Premier League, like everything else in our society, has been affected by the financial slump and the harder times. But for the massive TV money, a lot of clubs would’ve been really struggling. It’s supposed to be an increased ammount next season, but if the money pot goes empty in the next few years, clubs are going to be in even more of a big mess.

To be truthful, I think the PL and in fact most of us in this country, have been very naive in our consideration that the PL is the best league in Europe/the world. For me, there was a spell of ten years or so from the late 90’s to the mid 2000’s that development of young players at the top clubs was put on the backfoot as clubs preferred to bring in foreigners. This in turn, affects the National side, and only recently are we seeing youger players getting into the side, such as Cleverly, Oxade-Chamberlain, Welbeck, Wilkshire (who I think is overrated), etc.

But are these players as good as the players who were at their clubs before them? I’m not sure. I think we could be in a position where the national team benefits, but the top teams are not as strong, and therefore as competitive in Europe. More focus has been paid on youth development in Europe, than here. The Dortmund side of 2 seasons ago who won the Bundesliga, had an average age of 22. The youngest ever Bundesliga champions. Germany has long concentrated on youth development. And I have actually watched Barcelona u19’s play. Each player had superb technique, comfortable on the ball, and playing the same way as the first team.

How many young players have Chelsea developed in the past few years? Or City? United, as we know, always have young players coming through. But are they as good as before? This United team has to be the weakest team that will probably win the league for years.
