“EFL have just announced that Wigan Athletic have been deducted 6 points; reasons will be released when they have been formulated”.
A leak suggests that it is because they have survived relegation, but the EFL are trying to reword that.

“EFL announce Wigan have been deducted 6 points after the new rule 13, section c, has been invoked. It states “no team shall survive relegation by losing a game. Appeals can be made, Barnsley, Rochdale and Northampton are welcome to attend”.
