I have not posted on Cockneylatic for about 8 years but used to be a regular. Today I am prouder than ever to be a Latics fan and here’s why:

    1. We are playing in the top league in Europe. Never forget that. In the traditional pecking order we would be lower league 1 at best. We are fighting above our weight as a club so be proud of that.

    2. We held our own against one of the best clubs in Europe for 60 minutes. Ok we collapsed after that, but at least we tried to take the game to them.

    3. We have 3 points. Looking at the first 3 fixtures we all would have settled for 3 points at this stage.

    4. I am proud to have a forward thinking and attacking manager like Martinez in charge. His methods and the fact we have so many new players will take time to gel.

To the people around me today whinging … never forget where we came from … it might get worse before it gets better but Martinez will get it right.

p.s to the person sat in east stand G195, I meant what I said … stop moaning you old git

      Good call hgl.

Look at it this way – there’s not going to be a better wake-up call or opportunity to learn for Bob and the new team than by matching and by getting trounced by what is still the best team in the league (yes, even better than the “resurgent” Arsenal).

Our history against Utd shows that it always goign to be our bogey team (you can bet your house it’ll either be a drubbing or us losing after taking the lead). There was also too many other bigger factors to think that we’d get anything from today (Rooney on 99, Owen on a duck, Berbatov on a drought, Valencia’s return, Utd’s loss to Burnley).

Personally, I’d rather get one of our two obligatory drubbings of the season out of the way early and now crack on – remember, we trounced Hull 5-0 at their place at the same point last season and they then went on a brilliant run.

      Couple of gripees though:

      – just seen the highlights on MOTD and am disgusted by the dirty tactics of some of Utd’s players (Scholes, Evra, Vidic)

      – secondly, Bob said today that losing 1-0 or 5-0 didn’t make a difference to him…hmm, it does in this league mate, as we found to our credit when we survived by just the 1 goal 3 seasons ago…

I am not sure why people are saying Martenez hasn’t a clue….why, could you do better or do you know something that Martinez doesn’t?

What were people expecting 3 games into a new season with half a new squad? top of the league??

A factor that galacTIC forgot – DW saying in an interview that Man U would not be champions this year. Really helpful !!!

here we go …… 3 games in, bobs not got a clue …..off with his head get a grip what happened to hope whelan gives him time listen to yourselfs, won 1 lost 2 lets go back to the end off last season when we hadnt won at home for 8 games i think (may be wrong) great football that under bruce and look what happend next he shits on us again and does nothing but talk us down. Now bob eats, breaths the latics i listen to whelan yesterday on sky and he said bob had reignited his love for football and his love for latics, i can see great things for us in the future if he is given the chance and if that means relegation 1st so be it weve been in worst postions than this, i remember when jewel came in and we got absolutly batterd by crewe at home but he was given the chance and look where he took us,give bob the chance he needs and keep off his back and who knows where we will end up.KEEP THE FAITH

Excellent post, this is the beginning of a new chapter in our history. I am fascinated where the revolution in playing style will take us. I rather enjoyed the first hour on Saturday and I will continue to enjoy my football. If the worst happens and we are relegated then so what, we have been there before. Nothing will make me hurl abuse at Roberto Martinez even if he does get it wrong.

To the fans who are grinding their teeth for the whole 90 minutes I say “lighten up” there are more important things in life than a football match.

PS I don’t sit in G195 although I have a similar bloody negative parrot on my shoulder as well.
