Over the years, I’ve read lots of comments from the likes of United and Liverpool fans, reminiscing about the great European nights, United with the Busby Babes and the Sixties side, and Liverpool with the 70s and the likes of the St Etienne game in 1977.

We LATICS supporters have had our moments too, of course. But for all the Cup Final was a massive occasion, it was last night that I felt was the most pulsating.
My heart was pounding from the start, I could really feel it. Every time they came forward, I was dreading it and expecting a deflection into the net. That’s the best atmosphere in the stadium, ever I think. It really was electric.

It was one thirty this morning before my adrenalin had calmed down and I could go to bed. £360 better off, too. A lovely bonus.

But yeah, a really pulsating night. Feel kind of drained today. Anybody else feel same?

I watched it from home & was about an hour behind but I felt exactly the same even in my living room

As I was watching it after real time I hid all my phones & tablets to avoid being tipped off about the score by Latics or City mates & family. Felt like that episode of the Likely Lads.

I’ll admit beforehand that if i could have brought myself to do it, I’d have bet on City to win by 5 or 6-0

Like you I think my adrenalin got going, especially as I started to wind numerous City fans up on social media & it was 2 before I was able to nod off. Having to the get up at 6, yes I feel a tad drained!!

It was a fantastic night, and I’m still mulling over whether The Cup Final was better or last night. So I’ll go equal tops. The only time I can remember such a vibrant atmosphere was against Newcastle, 4 – 0.

My 2 big Wigan regrets are not coming to beating Manure, and Arsenal 3 – 2. But I think last night makes up for that.

Anxious, exciting, finger nail biting, emotional, exuberant, happy, worried, resigned, ecstatic, disbelief ….. how many more emotions can you get in 90 minutes, with no respite. I’m exhaussted!

George, that’s what football is about! Or should be. What a thrilling night for us. A night they will talk about for decades, as I told my kids.

Just a shame what happened at the end and the fact it’s casting such a shadow.

A tremendous night for all Latics fans, prior to last night I had the quarter final win at City in 2014 the greatest cup win we have ever had, we were second tier at the time, at their place and they were going to give us a footballing lesson in revenge for our cup final win.

Last night puts the 2014 game into the shade we are third tier and lets not make any bones about it, this City team are probably the best football team in the world at the moment and little Wigan beat them.

OK they had loads of possession but that was are game plan let them have the ball out wide and stop them playing throw the middle.

A game we will be talking about for decades and quite rightly so.

            Brilliant little Wigan.

It was an amazing night. Stat man … has any team ever won a game with 17% possession. But who cares ……… there is only one stat that counts!

John Boy Walton: not normally that busy, saved brilliantly from the Argie.

Nathan “Sammy Davis Junior” Byrne: best game in a Wigan shirt, so he’s allowed to blow his own trumpet.

Chey Dunkley: never looked flustered by the 150m strike force.

Dan Burn: six foot seven, he should be six foot twelve after that performance.

Callum Elder: another best game in a Wigan shirt.

David “Dorothy Perkins”: brilliant effort, never lets the team down.

Max Power: brilliant performance, welcome back to the Tics fold.

Gavin Massey: good performance; if only that cross could have dropped in the box.

Nick Powell: hope it’s nowt serious and you can rip the Saints apart instead.

Gary “Audrey” Roberts: great effort, just like our other veteran.

Michael “Crackers” Jacobs: great effort and kept up the intensity.

Will Grigg: I’ve been playing your song all day ! Thanks for a brilliant moment of class that showed the big time Charlies how to find the net !

Jay Fulton: great game and really got stuck in where it mattered,

Ryan “CoCo” Colclough: valuable effort in his 14 mins on the pitch.

              Bring on the Saints !

Fantastic night, quite possibly the best. Fans were terrific all game and the east stand was bouncing for the last 10mins… so wished I was in there.

As soon as that goal went in started to receive loads of texts from supporters of other clubs congratulating our win, more than the final in 2013… brilliant

I apologize to the poor bloke sat next to me from Monday night (he doesn’t normally sit there) and the group behind us when that ball hit the net and i grabbed him and them nearly pulling them all to the ground cheering and going mental i’m glad they all joined in though, they must have thought what the F just happened.
