yeah , it must be great to spend more than what comes in on foreigners who dont give a toss about your shirt & running the business at a constant loss

Yes, isn’t it shocking how some clubs live beyond their means.
I remember a club back in the mid-eighties who signed up all the best players (quite a few of them were foreign mercenaries), paid them exorbitant salaries, more or less won everything in sight for the next ten years but ended up so much in debt that they were forced into having to sell their ground to survive.
They now have to rent a ground from a local Premier League club who, in the event of a fixture clash, can force them to use another club’s ground.

And there my boy, you see one of the reasons why football is so popular and Super League is not. You can get relegated at football, and if you win enough games, you can get promoted again. There’s always a dream and always something to aim for.

In Super League if your face fits, they’ll see you right. ;)

face fits ? try telling widnes that
what have they done , 9 years away from where they should be (imho)[/quote]

Exile squad to face England (M62 corridor )

Thomas Leuluai (vice captain), George Carmont, Brett Finch, Ryan Hoffman, Jeff Lima, Pat Richards and Amos Roberts are all named in the initial Exiles squad, a team made up of the cream of overseas talent drawn from the Engage Super League.
         :teasing-lurk:

No, you’re right. We need ‘kiss the badge’ types, who’ll stick with the club through thick and thin, because as we know, Rugby League lads would never consider leaving Wigan for money – for instance, if they were offered it by another club or even another sport.

Yes, Wigan Athletic have foreign players. It’s because more than four countries play the sport professionally, so there are quite a few to choose from, and they don’t have to wait for the latest crop from John Fisher.

Wiganers in the Wigan Rugby team? Get away. Live in a small remote village and you’ll invariably end up boning at least one member of your extended family.

You are pretending to be that stupid aren’t you? Widnes were not allowed into Super League because their face didn’t fit as well as a team of Australians from London, a team of Australians from France, or a team on the verge of bankruptcy and who will never ever make the sport popular in Wales. So, yes, as I said, if your face fits in Super League, you will be okay.

I really don’t know why i am bothering to post, but i heard about some of the postings on here so decided to take a look. I have to say that i find many of the posts on here very sad, uninformed, one-eyed and frankly embarassing.

!. if the ground was not for shared use, it would not exist. That was a condition of the European monies supplied to build it, and the councils passing of the plans.

              2. St Helens are at Widnes this season because they, St Helens, are having a new stadia built.

              3. If we are a small club from a pointless small game, why are you so interested in us.

              4. If you are such a big fish, why on earth do you snipe at our attendance figures even though they are higher than the rugby when you seldom, if ever fill the ground DESPITE playing in the biggest, wealthiest, most watched football league in the world, with some of the biggest clubs in the world within 40 miles of Wigan, on the doorstep.

              5. And no i have not spelt my name incorrectly, its a play on words, but i would imagine that the subtlety will be lost on this sad forum populated with people with a bag of chips on each shoulder.

Sorry people, i really have made myself look silly.

I’ve stopped reading at point 1 because the planning permission was granted before Wigan Warriors ever got involved in the JJB Stadium. The only “duel use” before that was Wigan Athletic and Orrell RUFC from what i can remember. I’m sure others can provide more dates and details to back up that point.

Feel free to correct me if this is one of these rare occurrences when i am wrong.

As for not not knowing “why i am bothering to post” – maybe it’s because you can come here and, hopefully, have a civilised discussion, without being instantly banned

No, but if your first point is going to be so factually incorrect then i expected the others will have only been in a similar vein. Points made with emotion rather than fact.

Not sure what you want someone to ban you for, this isnt rlfans you know.

I’m sure you’ll be back anyway, just to see what we’ve all said. I’ll bet you cant keep away.

Incorrect. Warriors came along much later into the plans when their Board sold their ground from under them to Tesco. The only potential groundsharing to begin with was with Orrell. It was never a pre-condition.
