12 March 2014 at 3:06 am #128571There are 3 regular posters on here that jump in if anybody has a go at Bobby and / or Everton.
There are several regular posters on here who respond to the small group of people prejudiced against Bobby whenever they launch yet another ridiculous attack on him or his new club.
My neighbour in the West Stand said to me, “If Roberto came back to the DW Stadium, I don’t think there’s a single fan who wouldn’t give him a good welcome.” He wasn’t absolutely right but I do think that he was right about the great majority of fans.

So just cause your neighbour agrees with you he is speaking for everyone.
I’ll boo him like fek before the game and clap him at the end. That’s what most fans did with Ellington on his return and he duly had a stinker.

To be fair John, Ellington didn’t really have time to have a stinker ! If my memory serves me right, he came on as a sub to a chorus of Boos and shouts of ‘Judas’ but then was taken off very soon after in a tactical substitution due to West Brom having a player sent off ! :) The boos then turned to cheers and laughter ! :)
12 March 2014 at 4:16 am #128576That’s the sort of welcome that some of our so-called supporters give to our own players.
12 March 2014 at 10:44 am #128583Uwe followed the same tactics that Bob played in last years final. If Bob had used those tactics all season he would have kept us up. Instead he played that horrible negative tippy tappy bilge that we had got used to. Man of principal or stubborn? Who knows?

He started both games against Latics in that 2005/2006 season. To be honest I can’t remember how he performed in the game at our place (although he did get replaced after West Brom had a man sent off late in the 1st half by the guy who went on to score) but he had an absolute stinker in the game at the Hawthorns & was dragged off12 March 2014 at 2:30 pm #128589It’s dead easy to understand Griff, when Martinez was our manager I could see what he was trying to do just like you Standish and a few others. The football at times was brilliant and at other times was abysmal. A manager who allows his players to take a short free kick when 30 yards away from goal and within 10 secs its with our goalie, has a lot to learn. This is just one example of the shortfalls of RM, IMHO he was and is not as good as I and you made him out to be. Everton fans are already saying he has no plan B, and that’s because he is so wrapped up in his playing methodology he is too short sighted to see the obvious at times. He is crying out for a decent assistant that has been there, done that and got the tee shirt.
Perhaps I’m just an old fashioned supporter who bums up his team, managers, players etc no matter what, but when anybody leaves they just want um to fail. It’s called being a loyal supporter and like it or not there are probably more fans wanting Martinez to fail than those wanting him to succeed. I’m just going off the gangs I hang around with, but I reckon that’s a fair indication, call it the exit poll of the football world.
There are 3 regular posters on here that jump in if anybody has a go at Bobby and / or Everton. That’s you, Standish and Barnsley, the rest either don’t give a shyte or openly bear a grudge against RM.That’s where I stand, so OK, if you want to read the posts and defend RM or call the posters who have a go at him, please do, its your prerogative being a latics fan and long standing member of this board.
That’s the whole point! ‘In your honest opinion’ he isn’t as good as you made him out to be!
So your defence of him for three years was just pom poms. You told everyone what a great manager he was, but you didn’t actually believe it yourself.
What about Rosler? Will he be a poor manager when he leaves in a couple of seasons?
And, I don’t jump in when others have a go at Martinez. It’s almost exclusively just you. The other posters didn’t use to defend him as vehemently as you did.
Maybe I’m just an old fashioned supporter – who likes to see ex-players, who have developed at the club, doing well for themselves.

/Wigan might have played better at the end of the season if Al Habsi, Ramis, Caldwell, Figueroa and Beausejour had been fit to play. Who knows?

Well it’s all academic now aint it. He has moved to Everton and we are on our second manager since he left. He is doing ok at Everton, not going to get them the Champions League football that he has promised them in time this season but he has maintained their fairly lofty position in the league that Moyes did for season on season. We have a manager who like Martinez will attract a fair amount of media attention and no doubt attention from bigger clubs should we go up or win the FA Cup again, or even both ! As I have said before, I was glad that Martinez realised he had done all he could for us and that he admitted that and moved on. He will be on shit loads more money and the club is miles bigger than ours and so that is a move in the right direction for him ! Time will tell whether both Martinez and Rosler will become the great managers that many think they might but for now let’s just bask in the fact that they were/are both a big part of our meteoric rise up the footballing ranks ! If he dumps us like Martinez did after getting us relegated, then yes I will be on his case. As for Rosler he has showed more in his time with us than Bobby did in all those years. He has a plan A, plan B, plan C and plan D. Bobby just had a plan A.
Oh and thanks for personally keeping tracks on my posts, it must indeed be a big honour for you, following such an illustrious board member. Do you want my Twitter account details?
I don’t think I take you seriously anymore, WTF are pom fekin poms? :P

I share the same sentiments as you on that one JR. As i said previously i would have had no problem with martinez had he kept us up then decided to leave. But i do have a problem with how he relegated us & no matter how you look at it, he was the manager so he takes the blame, likewise he takes the credit for the greatest day in our history last may.
i too would be on roslers case if he relegated us then jumped ship.
if martinez loved us as much as he claims/claimed he would have stayed this season & try to get us back up at the first attempt.14 March 2014 at 8:09 pm #128675Oi ladies, what a waste of a thread. Poor Barnsley has missed out on over 40 posts for the Bottom 4 Bob thread
