I hope Bob gets a grip because hes starting to sound quite embaressing. I can just see Arsene Wenger laying on extra training after reading this.

      Martinez gunning for Gunners

Roberto Martinez has promised that Latics will be going all-out for three points when they travel to Arsenal on Saturday.
Wigan have lost on each of their six previous trips to North London to face the Gunners, but Martinez has promised he will not be content to park the team bus in front of Chris Kirkland’s goal.

The 1-0 weekend win over West Ham means Latics will travel south full of confidence, despite the prospect of facing one of the strongest teams in Europe.

And despite seeing his side hammered 5-0 against Manchester United last month, Martinez has no qualms about again encouraging his side to go toe-to-toe with another potentially lethal opponent.

The Wigan manager said: “We are not going to go into any game thinking about damage limitation, because you have no chance of getting any points and you don’t learn anything like that.

“We will be brave and open-minded, and use every game we play to grow as a team.

“The 5-0 defeat against Manchester United probably looked damaging from the outside, but the first 50 minutes in that game helped us to win the game on Saturday against West Ham.

“It’s the way you develop, the way you learn, the way you grow as a team – and we are going to carry on doing that against Arsenal.”

Martinez believes Wigan are continuing to grow ‘as a team and a club’ as he strives to integrate new ideas and new players into the existing
      structure.
And, after four successive defeats, he saw enough from the victory over West Ham to fill him with great confidence for the rest of the campaign.

“The most pleasing aspect was that we knew as a team what to do in every single situation, and it was a very, very important performance,” he explained.

“We had to show patience in our play, and we had to find the chance rather than chase it.
“That will be the key to any success we have.

“We know we are in a transitional time, we know we are learning certain aspects in terms of growing together, and to be able to see the game through like we did against West Ham was pleasing.

“That was something we couldn’t do against Everton, and that shows you we are growing as a team and as a club. We know we have a very talented squad and the challenge for us is to fulfil all that potential.

“Every player is starting to master what they are good at, and that allows you to build partnerships and different strengths throughout the team, which is how you create a good team.

“You don’t want every player to be the same, or areas where they show the same ability, and it’s very important that in every single department on the pitch we have different strengths.
“When they all link up together, that is when you become a strong side.”

So what would you like him to say? :?

Good on him coming out with that. I much prefer that attitude to the likes of Arsenal and Utd than the one Jewell used to adpot. All he did think was damage limitation, going into the games not expecting to win and generally brown nosing with them.

        Good on you Bobby.

        Very clever line, that.

Edit: From Martinez I mean, not from our little friend who will be off to bed soon at 19:32

            Fair play to Bob,
I think he is bang on with what he said. I would rather see us go for it than ruin what, given both teams style of play, could be a fantastic game of fooyball.

Please put me straight and highlight any spelling mistakes. Unless you thought there were errors when really there are none. Now that would be embaressing.

One of these days we’re gonna do one of the big4, and if that happens to be this weekend it will be like having a birthday and Christmas rolled into one! and I’ll be the smug looking t**t for a change.

Still win lose or draw, on the booze
