Totally agree. The press will never accept we are in the 6th round on merit and Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs aren’t. Let’s show em…. :P

16 February 2014 at 4:51 am #127398Get over it. Most folk lost interest in us the day after we won the cup. Have you ever cared about another club’s defence of their trophy? Our name on the cup is recognition enough.

“As FA Cup holders, Wigan are certainly showing plenty of resilience in the defence of the trophy. Wigan manager Uwe Rosler got it right tactically and his players have put the work in. A fantastic performance from the holders.”

Rosler ihas quietly got the team going and it would seem we are now seeing the results of his work- 6th round of the cup and handily placed in the championship.
this incredible season is starting to get very exciting now!
Not too bothered whether the media talks about the club or not and I’m sure our manager isn’t but we could easily be on our way to wembley if the draw is kind.
Let’s hope for a home draw tomorrow but i suspect uwe is now focusing on beating Barnsley on Tuesday night- great time to be a Latics supporter!16 February 2014 at 2:29 pm #127411We’ve certainly had our ups and downs already this season.
We’ve played one game at Wembley and now have two chances to return.
However, we may well be mixing with the big boys in the cup. And we’re one of half a dozen teams fighting for sixth place.
The excitement may well go on right to the end of the season.
16 February 2014 at 4:06 pm #127415Certainly knocks spots off the drabness of the Greed is Good League and four years of boredom watching Bobs negativ drivel on the field. That was yawn football Bob gave us.
16 February 2014 at 7:11 pm #127418Some of the media seem to know a lot about us. According to Ken Gorman in the Sunday Mirror “Like his goal at Wembley, it was another brilliant long range strike”. Errr..could have sworn it was a glancing header from a corner, but then what do I know. I was only about 20 yards away and perhaps it looked different from the press box.

16 February 2014 at 11:25 pm #127445Make your own mind up. His actual words are;
Ben Watson, who struck the winning goal at Wembley when they stunned Manchester City last May, got the winner in Cardiff, with another spectacular long-range strike. Even Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to admit: “It was a wonder goal. You can’t legislate for goals like that.”

No need for making ones mind up as it quite clearly is lazy journalism ! “Ben Watson, who struck the winning goal at Wembley” I have never heard of an header being described as ‘Struck’ !18 February 2014 at 12:53 am #127474My quote was from the centre football section which was probably sent down the line from the match. The other quote was from the back pages and the online version and was obviously changed after checking the facts.
18 February 2014 at 1:30 am #127476Thanks for that.
You’re right. Poor in the first instance and ambiguous in the second!
