Have to say, even though it’ll probably be cr4p, I am genuinely excited about the new series of Red Dwarf starting tonight…

I was really looking forward to it too, but wasn’t really expecting much considering the time lapse since its prime, and how god aweful series 8 was. I was pretty impressed but it’s just not as good as it was in the early 90’s. It now seems all the characters have an equal share of lines and jokes too, whereas before the primary character was Lister, then Rimmer. There’s no Holly anymore either! Not sure how Red Dwarf (the ship) managed to miraculously upgrade itself in deep space either. Appart from all that, I was still pretty impressed but there were no laugh out loud moments.

Apropos of nothing, one (or possibly both) of the writers of Red Dwarf used to work in the print room at GUS in Manchester in the early 80’s.

Not sure why I bothered to share that.

Whilst we’re on about irrelevant red Dwarf related trivia, a mate of mine from schools dad worked on props for the company who made the original series & he built Red Dwarf itself

I must admit i was underwhelmed about the new series as i was worried it will be totally ruined but i thought it was great. Well as good as it can be with the new recording sounds and images. I know things look a lot crisper and sound better these days but somehow the old style just feels better. Sets the scene a lot better.
