I/we all comment upon ‘ standards ‘.. additionally I read others’ sites and there are loads of adverse comments . I accept that they are human , and wouldn t want every incident VAR’d . What really annoys me is the [ perceived or otherwise] non application of the Laws of the game and the allowance of brinkmanship/unprofessionalism [ cheating ] I don t buy into the ‘ we do it so it s ok ‘ and honestly feel that we are seriuosly LESS guilty then most others . This may be of course my hope that fair play and integrity abound . Tommy commented yesterday that a PNE player tripped [ Pearce ? ] as he broke away and said ” That should be a red card ‘. Feigning injury , sponsored walk on a throw in . and something that really gets on my tits is kicking the ball away etc . The penalty award yesterday was, quite frankly, atrocious ..clueless Ref conned by Johnson ; I wished it had been missed/saved not only for the deception , but also the feigned injury and fucking about with the spotkick itself . The only people to blame . in my opinion , are the so called refs .. personally think that ex players should officiate ..a great career for them [ ? } As a footnote , I once read a book written by Pierluigi Collina , imo THE greatest Ref I’ve seen ..went into each dressing room prior to kick off and told each set of players to play the game in a sporting/legitimate manner[ even telling certain players that he knew their tricks [ deceit ] AND < AND that he was there , not only to ref the game , but as he did so , wanted to watch a great game of Football.. :good:

I have said it for years, referees getting 1 major decision wrong, can change the outcome of a game.
Preston was a prime example. Without equalising from the spot, would they have gone on to win anyway, I am not convinced.
Retrospective punishment for players and teams that repeat offend, is the only way this will be sorted.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

There was a decision in a Europa League game were the ball went over the line and the refs watch went off say GOAL and the TV caught a picture of his watch screen.

The goalie had tried to scoop the ball back against the post but you can clearly see the ball over the line.
It went to VAR and VAR disallowed it saying it didn’t,
The ref agreed but after the game they changed their decision saying it had I fact crossed the line.
My point been, if your saying bad reffing at top level you must include technology as it’s part of the referees armour but if your going to overrule cameras and watches then after say we were wrong what can we do ?.
Refereeing at our level is shocking refs not in control. Against Preston Brady got sent off and he decided to make a diagonal exit to the corner flag taking over 1 minute when he could have left the pitch to the half way line, the ref did nothing and that time never got added on.
At home, an opposition player was subbed and walked up the length of the pitch in play a yard in play rather than off the field the ref watched it and held the game up till he got to the half way line, again poor reffing.
These refs have no control and their decision making is disgusting

Another thing, when the lines of Fernandes runs towards the ref nose to nose at every decision arguing what kind of message does this say to ground level roots football,

“Well if they can do it so can I !”

I’m sick to the back teeth of refs not been in control. I hate to say it but we should take a leaf out of the Rugby League’s book, zero tolerance.

I promise, dish out a few more yellows and reds for dissent and it will soon change and overnight.
When a ref loses the players all hell breaks loose and refs are pressured into the wrong decision. Once a ref has control of player discipline then less mistakes will occur.
