Referees don’t change games do they?

I don’t think there’s any doubt that major decisions go in favour of the big teams, but at home against Birmingham for example, they were denied the clearest penalty you’ll ever see. That could have cost us two points and we’d have been almost down by now. Wolves and Blackpool have also been the victims of poor refereeing so it’s not only us.

If we do go down it’s not down to the refs – it’s because we simply don’t score enough goals and have the inability to defend a lead.

Well said Warrington. Some people can only see it from one side. We scored a goal against Bolton which was 2 yards off side. Rodders goes up EVERY TIME with his elbows out, could be a Red card but usually just a yellow. Just watched the WOLVES game HUNT ran and chased more in one half than the majority of our team, do in two games.
I feel that is so much wrong with the club from, Manager, Tactics, Team Morale, Calibre of Players. Back room staff, etc. Maybe I’m having a rant :x but I feel so disillusioned about what has happend over the last two years… I have been watching football for well over 50 years I had a season ticket at Everton from 1962-74 during that time I saw all of the GREAT teams and players, and when I didn’t go away, I would go to Bolton. Preston. Latics, When Wigan got into the league, I started to go regularly every week, home and away. I can honestly say That in all that time, I have never been as BORED watching football, as I have over the last two years. I am still waiting to see our Martinez’s “ATTACKING STYLE OF PLAY”
After the Wolves result I feel we now need to win both our games and I can’t see it happening.
and even then, we have to rely on both Wolves and Blackpool dropping points. Martinez’s quote at around Christmas ” I’m not bothered about the lack of goals”( If I had been the chairman I would have sacked him for that comment alone) may come back to haunt him.

I feel so angry and frustrated to see 10 years hard work being systematically destroyed in two years. Martinez’s ethos of wanting to play like Barcelona is fine if you have Barcelona type, world class, players. We can’t even do the basics right i.e. controlling the ball and passing. What you haven’t got in skill you have to, in some part, make up in bloody hard graft like teams such as Stoke, Wolves, Blackpool. Players, at this time of the season, should be coming off the field on their hands and knees, having run themselves into the ground.
Awwww I could go on for hours but I’m only getting more angry. No doubt a lot of other posters feel the same way. My feelings more than likely will not be shared by many, but when people post on here, be it for or against a topic, it shows that we do all, have the best interests of the club at heart.

griff do you honestly believe that martinez the man who reduced us to the non goal scoring, boring, gutless side we are now within 2 seasons of taking over will get us promoted at the first time of asking ?

add to this the inevitable dismantling of the current squad – whelans ongoing and stringent financial constraints and the likes of the probable big spenders leicester & west ham plus leeds and 3 of the play off teams, then ipswich and quite a few others who’s chairman are still chasing the premiership dream.

despite arsenal being technically superb i find watching them extremly boring – like i find technically superior spanish and italian football dull and boring and not a patch on the high energy, fast, pyhsical battles that the premiership provides – and viewing figures from the rest of the world prove this theory.

the way we have capitulated when the going got tough the last 2 seasons – the latest being the sunderland debacle also proves what a gutless bunch we are.

yes we are a better team – but he also inherited better players and can buy better players with premier league resouces, but brendan rogers seems to be managing better than martinez did on his limited chapionship budget

i will harp back to my st mirren comments nearly 2 years ago “although it may look pretty, the better teams will out football you and the poor teams will out muscle you playing that way” history shows that to be true in the premier league and in the chapionship it will be pace and power taht wins the day,and as i said before martinez didn’t manage it in 2 years at swansea.

Martinez will not fail or hasn’t failed for finacial reasons, now this is MY opinion he has failed for purely managerial reasons, but if he does stay the ongoing financial constraints will contribute even more when compared as i said before the teams still chasing the premiership dream.
