Should be given a bonus. Bet the streaker puts a “claim” in. :orcs-buttshake: :orcs-buttshake:
9 March 2011 at 3:15 am #61658Reminds me of the incident involving Gazza when he was at Rangers. The referee dropped his yellow card. Gazza picked it up, ran over to the ref and before he gave it back held it up as if to book him.
Referee took it off him and promptly showed it to Gascoigne.I think the desire to want to be a referee should preclude you from ever being one.
It’s a power thing for men with little willies and a humour by-pass.9 March 2011 at 2:30 pm #61671I think the desire to want to be a referee should preclude you from ever being one.

No need to Griff
I’ve got a massive donga & I’m funny as fook!!!!13 March 2011 at 5:13 pm #61936I do think to want be a referee and in particular to aspire to reach the highest level requires a certain disposition. Why else would you put yourself in a situation where you are constantly criticised and ridiculed about how badly you do your job without any recourse to reply.
I don’t know at what level you referee Tyldesley but I guess it’s local amateur football. Maybe your willy gets smaller and, not unsurprisingly, your sense of humour diminishes the further you move up the refereeing ladder.

A serious question: what motivated you to become a referee?
If I wanted more involvement in football these days, I’d chance my arm as an old clumper with a pub team or such like, or get involved with coaching / managing / running a team. I’m not saying I’d be any good at any of these, but even so, refereeing wouldn’t even appear on the radar.
14 March 2011 at 12:05 pm #61985Standish – I was quite happy playing my one game a week at the Trafford Centre Soccerdome but after I tore all my ankle ligaments for the umpteenth time shortly before my wedding (which went down well with the wife to be!!!) I was told that my ankle ligaments were now so weak that if I carried on playing I would just keep on getting the same injury every 12-18 months & each time the ankles would get weaker – so basically the advice was to stop playing
As such playing in any form wasn’t really an option.
I wanted to keep some involvement in football beyond watching Latics & I heard you got paid for it so I thought I’d give it a go & I’ve enjoyed it – some games more than others. I can take flak that comes my way coz I gave enough of it out to refs when playing & watching
i did a game on Saturday where I had a club’s management running on the pitch balling & screaming in my face (last minute penalties with the game tied at 1-1 never go down too well!!) but they’re very much the exception
Sammy – as I’ve been reffing for about 4 years now & just been promoted I’ll ask the wife if there’s any truth in your theory that the higher you go up the ladder the smaller your schlong becomes!!
