3 August 2019 at 12:32 am #180005Me too but I can’t work our if there is an irony to it or if it is just small minded
3 August 2019 at 1:07 am #180007No town embraces the pie like Wigan. If you ever follow “life of pies” twitter ( I just like looking at the pictures) you can see we’re obsessed with them, and rightly so!
A good pie is a pastry chalice sent from heaven. Or even better, Gents bakery in Standish.

3 August 2019 at 1:50 am #180012I quite like it TBH! Tongue in cheek stereotype of Wigan. Harmless fun.
3 August 2019 at 2:12 am #180013We’ve got competition.. Think our pie looks better though
3 August 2019 at 3:37 am #180022If Crusty pins a tail on Angus will it mean that we’ll end up with a load of those little buffet style meat pies ??
3 August 2019 at 11:16 am #180026I quite like it TBH! Tongue in cheek stereotype of Wigan. Harmless fun.Me too. I think it is a bit of harmless fun, and what other purpose do the ‘mascots’ serve. I heard that it was designed by 2 kids, which is nice. What ever, for me it is a million times better than the last 2. They simply disturbed me.
3 August 2019 at 11:26 am #180027Truth is a lot of mascots have a “connection” with the club it represents. For eg, Liverpool’s mascot is a Liver bird, west ham’s has a hammer head & so on. Pies are associated with Wigan.
I loved springy/JJ. I never really understood stripey or those 2 weird looking things. I never really understood the connection to Wigan. A pie however……

That’s a pasty Jimmy lad ours is the real McCoy.
Pies are our identity our birthright and the staple diet of the true Wigganer.
It’s a comforting fact knowing especially when a long way from home that you are fluent in Wiganese and partial to a pie on a barm. And however bad the food may be in far flung places you can close your eyes and imagine the delicious taste of a good old fashioned meat and prater pie squashed on a buttered barm. Utopia.

Yeah, those last 2 weird things ….. they upset me!!! Sort of. I don’t really want to say what they reminded me of here for fear of upsetting others but they were a bit like the foetus of an alien. They were disturbing!
3 August 2019 at 1:09 pm #180031Cracking piece of publicity work, on the eve of the season. Thats how I see it.
4000 away fans singing “what the f is that?” May see it differently. Ha ha.
Summat for the kids.
