Wigan Athletic’s Reserve Team have gone top of the Northern Group A section of the Barclays Premier Reserve League after Newcastle United were defeated 5-1 by Manchester United last Thursday.
With nine games played Graham Barrow’s side have the best home record in the league with four wins and are undefeated at Robin Park so far.
Latics have had a healthy mix of senior and young players this season that have been defeated only twice, away to West Ham and Man Utd.
With this week’s game against Chelsea postponed Barrow’s team now look a tasty encounter away to second-place Newcastle on January 11th.
