Went to watch the Latics Legends play Golborne sports club veterans team last night.
Roberto turned up at half time and played the second half. I believe he could not get out of the car at first because of kids surrounding the car.
After the game he was again surrounded by people wanting picture and autographs. What a guy this man is, it was freezing last night but he stood there for about 20 minutes signing and having picture taken with kids and adults alike, until someone rescued him and took him into the club house (to get warm).
Once inside, the clamour for autographs and photos continued and Roberto gladly obliged whilst his family looked on.
Wigan won 5-2 and Bobby scored a goal (which I missed whilst going to the bar !!) Graham Jones got 2.
How many other premier league managers would turn out for a game like that at this time of the season, just before, what could be the biggest two games of his managerial career.
Well done Bobby for making a lot of kids (and a few adults)very happy last night.
Saw a few old faces at the game but I dont think it was advertised enough to get a few more down there.
It was all for charity and I think they would have raised a few bob (pardon the pun).
As I said before well done Bobby and the rest of the team.

Just read match report on Mudhutters and Jones only scored 1 not 2 goals

Thanks to all those that came, the game was in aid of my wifes sister

It was advertised heavily through the local papers, the Post featured THREE articles on the game over the past month, all Latics websites, especially Vital, also twitter and facebook

Problem I had with regards Martinez was that the Latics didnt want it advertising that he was playing just in case something happened and he couldnt make it

          £2,500 was raised

          Report and photo’s here:

Fair play to him for turning out for a worthy cause at this stage of the season, just goes to show that there are far more important things in life than football.
Just wandering how he managed to get home from Golborne though….what with no wheels left on his car and all that!
