    He made the right choice.

Who wants to be fighting relegation all season?

Had to laugh at this post:
“lock the thread for a while. The less said about this shite the better”

If we did that every time Latics didn’t play well there’d be no posting at all.

The thing about that site is it doesn’t allow negative comments – I think they have no choice today :P

    Or this:
“Perhaps the RAWK mods should look into the possibility of waiting with opening a post-match thread for an hour after the game is finished in case the result is disappointing. Clearly some people are hardly able to handle their emotions. ”

Roberto didn’t take the job (allegedly) because he wanted full control over everything. Rodgers was happy to take it on the basis he didn’t have full control. He is now reaping the consequences of accepting that.

The other problem Liverpool have is that whilst I’m sure Rodgers is a decent coach and has a clear vision of how he wants the team to play, he wasn’t the architect of what he had at Swansea. It was Roberto who created the Swansea we see today. The process of bringing about significant change, be it at a football club, a business, or anywhere else is ridiculously difficult. Just look at our last three years.

If the scousers wanted and need that knd of change they may not have he right man.

There is only one man for that job, and his name is Rafa Benitez.

He will end up back there eventually, I have no doubt.

This current Liverpool side is the worst side I have seen them have. I genuinely think they may have a real relegation battle on their hands…..

….but won’t that do some of their ‘spoilt by glory’ fans good? I think so. It’s so easy to support a team winning trophies and dominating the game. Not so them now though. Would half of those players have got near their side a few years ago? No way. How on earth was the £35 million transfer of Carroll actually sanctioned? He wasn’t worth HALF of that. And this season, signing Joe Allen for £15 million…..he may be a decent player…..but £15 million? Am I missing something?

If he’s worth that, then James McCarthy must be worth £20 million at the very least.

Yes, Roberto, as we know, is an intelligent bloke. As his decision shows. And we will reap the benefits…..I truly believe that.

Brendan Rodgers is a fool if he let players go on hearsay that new players would be bought. We all know that the transfer window is unpredictable and IMO he should have signed up new players before selling.

I don’t think he will see Christmas at Liverpool and after signing Allen for £15mill he doesn’t deserve to be.

It seems Brendon Rodgers had no say in the matter.
The foolish thing was to take the job on the basis that he wasn’t in control of such matters so I hardly think he has anything to complain about.

very well said sam, so if he goes who will take that job under those conditions, redknapp maybe if they pay him enough.my money would be on carragher.

It was Carragher and his pal Gerrard who got Benitez potted.

They are well and truly fucked, and its down to poor management and planning over a long period of time, Buck has now been tasked with fixing a problem that has happened over 20 years within a few months, because i honestly believe thats all the fans will give him, and believe me they will have the final say in it, so tribal and introverted they are, i would not put it past them to form a picket line around the ground and prevent any ‘scabs’ from going in, they are that mental.
What the owners have done is awful in every way, the financial extravagance last year, to the penny pinching this year, the signing of vastly overpriced players and subsequent removal of said players from the squad, the signing of absolute shite, and the complete support given to an absolute twat (suarez).

They obviously wanted a manager that was proven to work on a budget, whilst at the same time maintain a football philosophy that the fans would buy into. I truly believe that Martinez was first choice given those criteria, given his work at Wigan and previously at Swansea, his positive demeanour and his total belief in his system, however, Martinez would need control of team affairs, that was not on the table, so they were rightly and politely turned down.
So they turn to Rodgers, based on the same criteria, and he accepts, even though in some respects he will have his hands tied behind his back, putting him on an immediate loser.
And i think they’ve given him too much credit for the work that our very own manager did at Swansea, it was alot easier for Rodgers to carry on somebody elses good work at Swansea than it will be to totally overhaul a club like liverpool, and i dont think he has the experience and the talent to do it, especially as he will have restrictions on what he wants to do, as he doesn’t have 100% control, this will be his saving grace come leaving time though, he will certainly blame lack of control over transfers and budgets when he gets the bullet.
I think that Roberto Martinez made a very well thought out and sensible decision in staying at Wigan, and i think he could take them as far as he wants to, given time and sensible investment throughout the club, he could even finish above Liverpool this season, and that is not something you would have thought possible 3 years ago.
Whether he stays for 2 years or 10 years, he’ll be a legend at this club, because he’s got morals and ambitions that far outweigh financial gain or self promotion, personally i hope he stays for 10 years, takes us into europe, establishes us as a top half team on solid foundations, and then moves on to a new project that is worthy of his presence, i don’t think Liverpool was, they’d have killed a talented manager on the way up, like they kill almost every manager they have, you made the right decision Bobby, better to be a man that gains respect and loses than loses respect for gains.
