Possibly……still supposition !!!
22 December 2019 at 5:48 pm #183105We are where we deserve to be, shite board shite manager none of them give a flyer of what we are going through. Time to accept relegation and no chance of a return in the near future. I only hope those of you on here who constantly slagged Mr Whelan off are content with the feckin shower of shite who are now destroying this wonderful club. We are rapidly returning to those really dark days of the early nineties. The only positive is that our wonderful fans will still be around long after these shiteheads have departed.
.Mate, in all honesty, I don’t think we will have a club to support within 5 years, maybe less. I really dont.
Can see Choi jumping ship if we are relegated and selling us to whoever for as cheap as chips. The attendances will drop even further and we will end up in a Bolton situation. The difference being, we won’t survive like they have. We will be allowed to go under and nobody bar about 4000 of us who were there in the Springfield Days, will really give a monkeys. (I include the offspring of the old Springfield Parkers in this as well)
But there won’t be any national outcry or petitions, or offers of help. More clubs fans than not will be laughing and enjoying our demise, they really will.
I fear the ship has already sprang a leak and the water will soon be gushing aboard.
22 December 2019 at 6:42 pm #183108My worries exactly………..too many supporters over last 12 months have shown complete apathy and “it’ll sort itself out again” mentality. Last season started the alarm bells screaming but the clappers went on their summer jollies pleased as punch that the unsackable had completed the mission. This absolute shambles of a season is just an 8 million pound continuation down the slide culminating in yesterday’s worst side accolade. I agree Cook should show some integrity, and negotiate a severance package that leaves him to continue his career somewhere else and gives us a fighting chance to avoid the path Bolton and the likes has tread.

Certainly hope you are wrong. But, that possibility/conjecture is all the more reason why Cook needs to go, and should have already been sacked, regardless of any $ owed to him. Something has to change, and Wigan would be better off taking a flyer on a first time/possible up and coming manager – get some unknown who doesn’t cost much. If he’s successful and moves on after 2 years, at least Wigan’s saved. Getting an occasional point out of your ‘best’ performances just doesn’t cut it.

Mate, I hope I am wrong as well.
But when I hear that they financial experts reckon that within the next few years “up to 20 clubs will either fold, or be in severe financial trouble”, I do think we will be one of them.
What is the solution? Getting to the Premier League. But we are miles off from getting there and reaping that cash cow. The only other option would be a buyer for us from a passionate millionaire supporter to bankroll us…but we have already been dealt that card.
Genuinely worrying that we are owned by people with no knowledge, or real interest whatsoever in football, Wigan Athletic, or Wigan the town, and who are only interested in making profit from event hosting at a venue, that being the DW, rather than anything else surrounding the football club. Really worrying.
We were an acquisition of investment, for the stadium, nothing else.
22 December 2019 at 11:06 pm #183116Seems strange that they would spend money developing the player facilities within the stadium, improve the academy and buy the soccerdome to ensure the academy moves up a level and play better opposition and have better facilities if they don’t actually care.

You cannot blame fans for scepticism when they are appearing to do Jack shit to halt our alarming slide. Cook cannot take us any further that’s blindingly obvious so must be replaced. At board level it’s a total waste of time Royle being at the club coz his lad is if we cannot use his vast knowledge and experience. Royle and Reid are not working for nowt so what’s the point of them earning a wedge here. I’m beginning to be seriously worried about my club egg something I thought would never happen a short time ago.
22 December 2019 at 11:51 pm #183118culminating in yesterday’s worst side accolade.Let’s wait until tomorrows game and the end of the game week before we use that one.
Like Rovers fans celebrating winning the league 2 seasons ago when they went 8 clear but we had 4 games in hand.

Thats it, mate. Thats it. Big worries.
The improvements to the stadium and academy may be conditions that were written into the sale.
The lack of decision with our current predicament is quite unbelievable. Never seen a club let something drag out quite like this. They wouldnt have got away with it at a bigger club with 20-30,000 home support…your West Brom, Birmingham, Sheff Wed type clubs. Theyve got away with it so long at Wigan, because when it boils down to it, 9000 home supporters have either been apathetic, or just silent about the whole thing. Theyve used that to their advantage. A bit different to having 20,000 fans chanting and holding demonstrations.
But it shouldnt have got this far anyway.
23 December 2019 at 1:04 am #183120Like Rovers fans celebrating winning the league 2 seasons ago when they went 8 clear but we had 4 games in hand. Its sad to see the difference in how the two teams have progressed since then, despite being of similar size, crowds, competition for support etc.
23 December 2019 at 1:25 am #183123They only finished 3 places above us last season and yes they are in form currently but they had a purple patch last year too.
I think the big difference is how they have managed to keep hold of Dack whereas we lost Powell and the rest of our best players.
23 December 2019 at 1:04 pm #183125Best players? We flogged the dud Grigg and Power who is out of his depth in this division.
Blackburn finished 8 points ahead last season and never flirted with relegation.
They are urrently 16 points ahead and on the brink of a play-off place.
Why is it that the two teams with the same managers and roughly the same squad have moved at such a different pace since promotion? Blackburn should be our benchmark for success or failure and the owners should be asking Cook as to why we are not at least close to them in terms of league position.
23 December 2019 at 2:13 pm #183126Better manager….better judge of a player too…..Still hope Cook puts one over on him tonight. A mauling and he should do the honourable thing and resign.

It perhaps shouldn’t have. But the issue I have, is people are very quick to moan on here about the current direction the club is heading. However, whenever i attend a game, I never hear anyone chanting “Cook Out” or “Sack the Board.” Unlike the old Springfield “Kenyon Out” days.
Now I have no idea exactly how many members we have on here, but are we simply in the minority of folk wanting Cook out? Typing a few words on here wont make a jot of a difference. However, if people feel the club needs to make a change in management, then voice your opinion at the game. Before anyone accuses me of enticing crowd trouble – that is simply not the case. But football fans all around the world voice their opinion at the game if they are unhappy, not on an internet forum. The latter is to just moan & groan.
Having a moan on here about the current state of the club will go completely unnoticed by those at the helm. Voice your opinion at the stadium however & folks might just listen. But as I say, whenever I attend a game, everyone appears quite content.
23 December 2019 at 3:02 pm #183128You obviously weren’t at the DW for the Reading game then
