HA HA HA is that a photo shop job? i thought the actor who played Seth Armstrong in Emmerdale had shook number 7 several years back?. is the said Woman in question the one holding the thing in her hand?. she looks like she worships at the alter of Beelzebub?

Her name is just one letter away from the truth. What her and her fellow self serving councillors are trying to do for Winstanley Warriors and acquire Winstanley Community Centre and the surrounding land is nothing short of a disgrace, as that land belongs to the people of Wigan and not WWFC or them. Politicians never let you down when it comes to letting you down.

forgive me hugh and i promise i am not turning this into an argument with you as i am not from that area and only know what i have read in the papers
but can you explain why there are objections to these proposals – from an outsiders point of view – i can see that securing this land / buildings for a football club as only a good thing -they claim to want to use it for the wider good of the community inc full use for all other community groups – the council will no longer be responsible for the running and maintenance costs, i have seen your anti labour posts in the past, but in this case what have party politics got to do with this issue
i read that the only other proposal for useage of this facility was by a group wanting to set up a wildlife area, now i think there is a shortage of decent sports facilities in wigan and cant understand why there are objections – i agree we/i dont probably know the full story hence my questions to you.the only other alternative and one many councils all over britain are considering under the harsh goverment cutbacks, is one that margaret thatcher made famous – selling school /public sports facilities off for development, any plan to stop this must be good for both the people of winstanley and wigan as a whole.

After reading the council’s arch rimming newspaper propaganda rag known as the Obby it now looks like the councillors have managed to ‘look after their mates’ after all. I didn’t want a party political argument either but this seemed to be a classical example of a couple of councillors doing favours for their own family and mates of theirs after calling in favours with their colleagues. I admit if I was in politics I’d be lining my pockets and helping my mates too but I’m not involved in politics and I’m a poor liar.What annoyed me is when I read back in December, an excellent article by Chris Pearce in ‘Local Life’ that the council cabinet totally ignored the wishes of the Winstanley network which had plans for the site, and also a vote by the Orrell, Winstanley and Billinge forum to let a public consultation have some influence. Winstanley Warriors are supported by Winkworth and also the club chairman who happens to be the son of another leading councillor. So none of this should actually surprise me but it does.
Pearce wrote “At a cabinet meeting the Wigan cabinet consisting of 12 senior Labour councillors excluded press and members of the public from the meeting yet amazingly allowed the interested councillors to be present even though they weren’t even cabinet members”. Surprise, surprise Winstanley’s planning permission sailed through after promising “the community will have access to this! and to that blah blah blah!”. Yeah right.
So there you are Wigan Council are giving their pet councillors £1m worth of land for their team which could’ve been sold off to developers at a time when savings have to be made and services are being cut.
Even though I hate Highfield Grange FC with a passion and know little about Cherrybrook FC who are the two other clubs in the area I still think them and the rest of the community have been cheated. This land and building could’ve been used more communally, rather than just given to that club. I suppose its similar to Real Madrid getting money and gifts off the Spanish government but it still stinks.
I’m originally from Winstanley and still have an interest in the place so I hope vandals burn the clubhouse down one day. Not very constructive I know, but I hope they do.

Ah bollox! credit where it’s due. She’s has done well for herself with her scheming. I couldn’t manipulate or scheme my way out of a wet paper bag never mind acquire £1m worth of real estate for me and my mates’ pet club.
