UWE Rosler today opened his heart about his time at Latics – in the ONLY interview he plans to give.
Speaking exclusively to the Wigan Observer, he said he was “devastated and a little bit surprised” by Dave Whelan’s decision to sack him last week.
But he said: “I’m not bitter, not at all. The club and the town will always have a special place in my heart.
“To leave a club on good terms is not normal in football, but there is mutual respect there and I genuinely wish everyone at Wigan all the best for the future.
“I have taken blows before and I always come back fighting and stronger.”
In a wide-ranging interview he also revealed:
His sorrow for the fans that he wasn’t able to deliver success.
He will continue to have a ‘special’ relationship with chairman Dave Whelan.
That he hopes Latics find the right man to guide them to success.
Rosler said: “I would like to say a massive thanks to the Wigan supporters. All I hope is that the chairman gets dealt a good hand now, and I believe the future of the club is bright.”
The hunt for the German’s replacement continues, with former Cardiff boss Malky Mackay still the front-runner for the job in the eyes of the bookies.
