Great reception for our new Chairman ! We were very lucky to go in at half time at nil nil.Thought the introduction of Cousins changed the game ,we looked more composed and a threat.Bad miss from Keane but he made up for it in injury time. I had just round to the bloke next to me and said ‘ Why does Power take all the free kicks ? ‘What do I know ? Off to celebrate with a few beers , great to be back watching instead of following it on text .Up the tics !
14 August 2021 at 7:17 pm #193264I totally agree and thought all three sub turned the game in our favour.
We need better beer at the DW
14 August 2021 at 7:22 pm #193265Thought that all our players put a good shift bin today !
Max Power, MoM for me; followed by Keane & Lang.
New lad from the Barcodes, didn’t put a foot wrong.
Whatmough looked like an ever present. Was impressed with Amos; he is certainly no Dracula !
Think the new Chairman had a top day !!!!!!
14 August 2021 at 8:27 pm #193274Thanks for taking 3 points off a side who Sunderland see as one of the teams you need to finish higher than to get promoted – they have a phenomenal record at getting promoted from L1.
14 August 2021 at 8:31 pm #193275I think the introduction of Massey & Cousins made a massive difference when they both came on. Whatmough & Watts looked like ever presents. I thought Wyke had a better game. But I feel we need to use proper wingers to get the best out of Wyke.
14 August 2021 at 8:44 pm #193276Nobody has a more phenomenal record of getting out of league 1 than Wigan Athletic
Although Bolton are quite good too but that was by going down

They’ve done it 3 times in 6 years – (2013/14, 2017/18, 2019/20), four times this century and 6 times overall. I believe Wigan have done it three times in their entire history (four if you are counting relegations).
14 August 2021 at 10:53 pm #193285Our entire history I take it you mean the years we have been in the football league .It’s a bit difficult trying to get promoted to the Championship from the Northern Premier League. We were prevented from entering the football league until 1978 by the old boys network (re election ) otherwise ,I have no doubt our record would be better than Rotherham’s.
15 August 2021 at 8:20 am #193290Without even needing to dig any history books or calculators out, comparable “numbers of seasons in the third tier” against “ number of promotions and regulations”. We will have a far better percentage rate of getting out of the division than any other club.
15 August 2021 at 8:28 am #193291Although if Sunderland go up, you could actually beat ours and Rotherham’s percentage rate, which would qualify for a special trophy!!

What regulations might they be Mr Edwards
15 August 2021 at 11:34 am #193297My first visit in 18 months and very fitting we had a last minute goal , very Latics !
Top day and great to witness the roof coming off at the end , what a roar !!!15 August 2021 at 12:01 pm #193304Ha ha ha! Yes relegations!
I did have my regulation quantity of booze following our win.
Now where’s Lostock Hall with his wine selection?
15 August 2021 at 12:24 pm #193306Don’t worry Mr Edwards. After the emotion & euphoria of yesterday, I had plenty regulations myself.
