Fabulous news……A sign of ambition. Means he’ll be here next season at least and a tidy sum for us when he eventually moves on. Maybe a few of us off the mark concerning Mr Dansons plans for this club. I for one don’t believe for one minute he has zero ambition……too good a businessman to just pour money in to stay in league 1. Great start to the transfer merry-go-round.
Don’t be shocked if he’s sold and loaned back, stranger things have happened but def good news. Hopefully we start to see new bodies arriving over the next few weeks, were a dozen shy right now
Yes Danson has ambition……..For his beloved Worriers not Latics, the profits made from Tickle and co will help towards strengthening the Worriers even more and keep them top of the RL tree.
While we languish and piss fart around mid table in L1 with loan signings and freebies, sustainability only applies to one club in Wigan, even Wigan Athletic Women are getting more finances than the men.

For me there has to be 3 different separate entities. The 2 of the 3 codes share the same ground, the same owner, and were from Wigan but that’s were the similarities should end.
I’m certainly not going to start having a go at Danson when he’s basically done nothing wrong so far. He came in when there was no one else and saved us from the abyss so let’s be thankful hey !.
Now that the embargo has been lifted we’ll soon find out how his intention and whether he’s going to fast track us or build it over the next 3-4-5 years only he knows the answer to that.
I was abit taken back having a women’s thingy kick up so soon. I would have thought getting the men’s side and youth would have been the main priority not women’s but that’s the sporting climate I suppose.
Surely the women’s whatsit could have waited for 12 months plus, well till we found out feet at least.
I just hope it doesn’t financially affect how we operate in the future as the women’s game at this level brings in zero cash and has to be totally funded privately.
Time will tell chaps but as long as were joint at the hip with rugby and women’s thingy me bob then every penny spent will be analysed but the other 2 codes.
We currently can’t thank Danson enough and it’s up to him to sort the club and squad out and deliver. His ambition for Latics will judged by the amount of money he allocates to Maloney to rebuild the 14 players who’ve gone.
The only thing that bugs me is, we’re always in the position that someone’s holding the chain to the plug and they can pull it any second.
I’m sure when he took over he knew he’d have to spend. I just hope he doesn’t turn into a poor Blackpool type landlord were it’s a lick of paint, same yellow net curtains and nothings spent on improvements and we languish in L1 – L2 for the foreseeable future.
I don’t honestly don’t know how this ones going to pan out only Danson knows.
I think we’d want more than £2million, £4million minimum for me but that’s not the big deal it will be the sell-on clause. If he were to progress at say a Burnley then £20million+ in 3 years wouldn’t be asking a fortune another 25% = £5million in the bag.
No one expects millions billions to be spent it ain’t gonna happen and I certainly dont expect a hot fix. I’ve always said the season after next will be when we should be challenging this season coming should be about building for the season after.
I’ve never expected him to go checkbook crazy it doesn’t work. I just want Maloney to be given the tools now that he’s proved himself by comfortably keeping us up and on breadcrumbs.
But let’s not get carried away here hey with some having short term memory loss. Some of those performances last season were absolutely fookin shite. Constantly playing Magennis was taking the urine. Maloney did the job granted but we have to massively improve against the lesser opponents which means Maloney needs to adapt to those more direct sides long bal etc.
So getting back to Maloney, if the right player comes up – back him. Maloney’s knows he ain’t gonna get the £1million players he’s not daft. It will be more about bringing in players and backing his judgement wages wise.
Again, it’s far too early to make judgement call on Danson’s backing of the manager we’ll save for when the window closes.
My only concern is gambling on players with an awful fitness history, steer clear I say fit young n hungry who’ll be willing to learn and will run through brick walls for the club
That’s all we want, you show to us fans you love the club favor returned

And just as I said, don’t go for injury hit players we sign Calvin Ramsey who’s played 5 games in 2 years with injury after injury. Injury has basically stopped him playing for the past two years.
That for me is a pointless loan

Yes he’s had 2 years dogged by injury but I’d rather take heart from his year before that when by all accounts he was smashing it enough for Liverpool to pay £6.5m for him
