probably have to be West brom or Newcastle or wolves. Really which one of the established teams would want him as a midfielder? central defence maybe but he ain’t the midfielder that he thinks he is.
If any premier league manager wants him to play in their midfield then they’ll deserve everything they get i.e. nowt
It can’t be any coincidence that our 2 worst seasons in this division have all come when he’s been primarily used as a midfielder, that one manager got sacked after 14 games of playing him there & that we had our best defensive record over the course of a season (I think) when he played at centre half
Not too over thrilled with him in midfield misell, but he gives us one thing no other current player gives us, ability to win headers in key areas. If he hadn’t come on late in the game monday, we would not have drawn that game. He won the far post header and set Stevo up for the overhead kick.
I will be a little worried if we don’t get a good target mon similar to Bolton’s Davies or our wantaway international Emile. Its OK playing football in the first 2/3rds of the pitch and I’m fully behind Bobby’s style, but if nobody can win a header or hold it up for the midfield chargers, then not sure how we will do next season.
Lee Mac played this role superbly for 2-3 seasons, in fact during much of this time he was our only option to get us moving forward.
I’d have been disappointed to see him go last summer, but I’m not that bothered now. As others have said, was at his best for us as a centre half, particularly under Bruce, but a decent fill-in midfielder. Don’t know why he thinks he’s best in midfield
I reckon he might have been best in a position he never played – right back. Good tackler, good in air, good energy, fairly quick, could have got down the flanks, and the odd concentration lapse that he was prone to as a centre half would have been less important.
Who told him that he’s a midfielder?! If Kirkland said that he fancied a game up-front, we wouldn’t pander to his crazy whims.
I’ll miss him. He was a genuine character and it’s nice to have an odd-ball amongst the Premier League’s generic, factory produced morons that populate the division. But his level (as a midfielder) is probably Stoke, where footballing ability comes second to physicality.
Has confirmed he will be leaving as he wants to play midfield at another Premier League club
I have a short message for him: good luck with that.[/quote]
I have another message for him, a genuine, non-sarcastic one: Good luck in the future!
The man has scored in the game Vs Sheff utd to keep us in the Prem. Scored many vital goals and has stayed with us through our journey as a top flight team. He is a great character (Bar the moaning etc) and you lot are willing him away. Some ‘fans’ you are. He has been a great player for us, still could be, but unfortunately… He is leaving. To be honest im not surprised with the ‘cheering’ him off when he has ONE bad game after everything he’s done for us. The ‘Thanx’ was a great gesture aswell, which I’m surprised he did the way some of the fans have been with him this season.
Yes I agree with everything you put in your post James, but I’m also saying that he doesn’t have the ability to play in a Premier League team’s midfield.

You’re entitled to your opinion. but I’m sure he must be good enough for someone’s midfield in the prem. Even ours, if it’s just for the winning of the ball in the air to keep possesion. Anyway he is definately good enough for us (and most prem teams) as at LEAST a back-up.
Okay we’ll agree to disagree on that one, but you have to say his natural position is at centre half.
Yeah..Don’t think that’s a question..More a fact. I did like to see him in the attacking role every now and again though. Can win headers in dangerous positions (a la hull) and could get hold of the ball :)
