Must agree with GC when he says the window should close at the beginning of the season although I would go one further and scrap it altogether or at least just have the window open from the last game until the beginning of close season.
Squads should be assembled from beginning of pre-season and put an end to this farcial first six weeks or so.31 August 2016 at 11:41 am #150328Donny how inconsiderate of you .. Trying to put Jim out of a job ? Surely that’s why the window was invented in the first place ?
31 August 2016 at 12:00 pm #150329All transfers including loan deals should be made 31 May to 1 August, plenty of time for managers to do their wheeler dealing.
All loan deals a minimum of 4 months starting 1 August.
Fuck the EFL
31 August 2016 at 12:43 pm #150331The transfer window is an international one, and has to take into consideration all leagues across all nations, which is why dates are set in stone.
Imagine how GC would feel if his wish was implemented here, only for some German/Italian/Spanish side to then come along and buy Will Grigg the week before their season started.
On the plus side, it could be worse – he could be a top flight manager and be faced with not even being allowed to bring in multiple loan deals after tonight.
31 August 2016 at 1:20 pm #150332While we are at it the loan deal farce should be scrapped too. So let’s start in mid July with the squad for the season.
Of course we could have done this this season by supporting the players who had got us promoted instead of this shambolic set of affairs that has arisen this season.31 August 2016 at 4:35 pm #150336Imagine how GC would feel if his wish was implemented here, only for some German/Italian/Spanish side to then come along and buy Will Grigg the week before their season started. In that case, scrap the windows altogether and revert back to the original transfer system of being able to buy players whenever you want/need them. This system of only knowing your team/squad by the start of September is ridiculous.
Clubs will still be able to say NO if they don’t wish to sell their star players.1 September 2016 at 3:18 pm #150394The transfer window is an international one, and has to take into consideration all leagues across all nations, which is why dates are set in stone. Not strictly true. Some smaller footballing nations have a longer window.

I thought that they’d all been brought into line now.
I do remember Asamoah Gyan being poached by some rich Qatari club a couple of days after the window had shut in the rest of the world, leaving Sunderland in the lurch.
Anyway, hasn’t the “Emergency”* loan window re-opened for the lesser mortals of the footballing pyramid? ;)
* – Not really an emergency, but it would be harsh to class it as “couldn’t manage to sort a squad out in the three months preceding 31 Aug”

And why we’re on it, agents should be scrapped, they create most of this merry go round and take a big wedge of money out of football. -
