:o Put together a manager without premiership experience, take away two of our best midfielders Valencia and Cattermole plus the battle hardened vastly experienced tiger Brown, add together a large number of new players without premiership experience, some of whom haven’t even played in this country e.g. Diame and Hendry Thomas who have both been thrust together into centre midfield of the hardest league in the world, with a limited experienced midfielder scharner and expect him to blood two central midfielders not one.
Add a player of championship pedigree and expect him to play him upfront on his own, it’s not Scotland’s fault that almost every other club he would be learning the game as a back up player, who knows he may come good NEXT SEASON, but I dont remember drogba doing much in his first season.
Some weeks we play above ourselves, and other weeks were disappointing, when we play well the football is far better than under bruce, when we get well and truly turned over we can put it down to the managers and players naivety, and think it wouldn’t have happened under bruce.
It is a massive learning curve for the manager as well and hopefully bobby will bring in some experience, especially upfront and central midfield in January. Give the manager a break (at least he wants to be here) , players like Diame and Thomas have the ability to be top notch next season, give all of them our support (not abuse) they need for the club to avoid the drop zone this season.

or he would have mullered you! :roll:I agree with everything in that post and some people on here
need to remember we are wigan ath not real madrid!7 December 2009 at 8:16 pm #14765Yes, yes, yes Colbob, all well and good. But you forget that today’s discerning Latics fan wants someone to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on established world-class players who have no desire whatsoever to come here and to have Champions League qualification wrapped up by the end of February.
8 December 2009 at 3:19 am #14807But colbob, we just can’t afford to wait until next season – having been here for almost 5 whole seasons that means we’re an established top tier side that must do better now ;)
8 December 2009 at 3:44 am #14809I prefer Viscounts to Yoyo’s !
8 December 2009 at 11:47 am #14811Considering your comments colbob4, dont you think we are doing well to be ahead of the relegation fight, imagine what a little more patience and time and a couple of new heads will do to the team. If we were so bad we would be struggling at the foot of the table.
As for this whole Brown is the messiah lark, I would rather have Gordon Brown in midfield, he was over the hill a couple of seasons ago, the majority on this board were slagging him off week after week. yet when he goes it gave you a perfect reason to complain…..
Orange Viscounts or Mint that is the question !
8 December 2009 at 7:09 pm #14854The point I was trying to make is we have a new manager and several new players who haven’t played in the prem, whether we like it or not we are a team in transition. I think those of you who expect the team to kick on this season galacTIC are setting yourselves up for disappointment. I said hopefully bobby will be able to sign new players to replace the experience lost especially in central midfield, which means exactly that he will try to sign new players, who want to come here and are good enough for the club.
I have never subscribed to slagging michael Brown off anywhere, he’s not the world’s greatest player, but he was very good at making it difficult for the opposition, a spoiler with heart and passion who hates for the team to lose. he,s nearing the end of his career, but even in a bit part role his experience would have been invaluable to this club, and that is the point that has passed you by Edingburghlatic, that because our midfielders and several other new team members lack that experience, in some matches WE ARE STRUGGLING.

9 December 2009 at 2:45 am #14876You must have missed my other posts colbob – I agree with you about this season being a transition.
Sarcasm’s never been my strong point :D9 December 2009 at 2:31 pm #14892No, I can’t do sarcasm either.
9 December 2009 at 3:48 pm #14895:) Sorry galacTIC haven’t been on here much of late, hearing moans at the matches, seeing people leave the birmingham game very early, just wanted to see what the regulars thought, somebody having a go at Hendry Thomas prompted my 6 penny worth, whatever happens this season I’ll be renewing my season ticket again.
9 December 2009 at 5:29 pm #14897what if, this season, you get knocked down and are sent to god. will you still renew?
