We cant grumble about those prices can we?Frozen again and some good initiatives for young adults like my 20 year old son who will save about £60.
Have to give Whelan some credit for this he is certainly setting an example to the greedy clubs out there.1 May 2010 at 3:47 pm #31458I’m 40 this year as well…. oh joy
You were a year above me at Gidlow Jay![/quote]

Just beat me to it! :)1 May 2010 at 4:54 pm #31466Well, with two sons, one of whom has just come out of the freebie category, I was doubting if I could afford it this season, but Dad + 2 at £300 is a great offer.
Well done Latics.
1 May 2010 at 4:59 pm #31467Someone must have picked up on this before, but I can’t see too many Latics fans saying they sit in the “Boston” stand. I’m predicting a mass exodus to the West!!
1 May 2010 at 7:10 pm #31477would it not make more sense to give the east stand back to away fans?
1 May 2010 at 8:14 pm #31479would it not make more sense to give the east stand back to away fans?and make every game like a home game for the away team? No thanks.
Its bad enough having 5,000 in the south stand when we play a well supported club.
1 May 2010 at 8:17 pm #31480would it not make more sense to give the east stand back to away fans?Only if your happy with the possibilty of turning Latics fans away for a particularly big game, and increasing the number of all ticket games.
You may also have to do away with some of the family ticket deals, which are possible becaue we have the South stand to use for such offers and community programs.
Theres also the problem of Utd being the only club who could fill that stand, this season Liverpool were given an allocation of under 4k.
1 May 2010 at 8:29 pm #31481Why not have the South, West and half of the East for ST holders, meaning that the North and/or half the East could be used for visiting fans or promotions, depending on who you play. For the likes of Fulham, give them 1000 seats in the corner of the East, sell the remainder to the half-way line, and offer the North to the likes of Heinz to give to their employees – result being less empty seats. For the likes of Man Utd, give them the North and 3000 in the East – result being less empty seats.
Its a win-win situation.
1 May 2010 at 8:35 pm #31482Like GMP would ever let us do that.
1 May 2010 at 8:59 pm #31488Surely better than having pockets of Man Utd fans all round the ground.
1 May 2010 at 9:01 pm #31489Possibly, but there would be pockets of Man Utd fans in the “home” end even if we gave them 20,000 seats and just had 5,000 for ourselves.
2 May 2010 at 2:54 am #31512Regardless of how many tickets we should give away fans, these prices must surely encourage Wiganers to get off their backsides…..very pleased to see the club doing their best to promote families attending the games, getting the youngsters in is surely the best way forward
