The old red seats that are turning pink are being replaced by the new Sunderland owners.
I hope when our ownership saga is finally completed that our new owners replace the fading red seats with nice new blue and white ones.15 June 2018 at 4:53 pm #169649I like those multi coloured seated stadiums because you can’t always tell which seats are empty and which aren’t. That would do us.

I hope when our ownership saga is finally completed that our new owners replace the fading red seats with nice new blue and white ones. You are not kidding with the word “saga”. The takeover at the Stadium of Light was done and dusted in a couple of weeks, the old guard swiftly moved on and a new broom sweeping clean. Meanwhile, we sit in limbo, not knowing why its dragging on – and this is a club that has just won its division FFS!
As to the seats at the DW – if the new owners got 20,000 bums sat on them every home game, they’d need changing much quicker due to wear and tear.
16 June 2018 at 4:10 pm #169660How do you know how long the Sunderland takeover took? Just because there was nothing rumoured or reported doesn’t mean nothing was happening. Ellis Short was trying to sell the club for years.
And if as you claim it was all done and dusted in a fortnight it suggests that due diligence wasn’t carried out.
16 June 2018 at 6:11 pm #169662It happened quickly because Ellis Short settled all debts and sold the club for £0. No haggling involved with either side trying to squeeze another million out of the other. No ongoing clauses regarding stadium usage and penalties for not maintaining it in accordance with the planning consent or public licences issued by the council.
It also went through quickly because the buyer (or new owner) was a UK citizen with business ties in the UK who had previously owned a UK football club, so he wasn’t some unknown quantity or the front man of an unknown consortium from overseas.
That said, it must be slightly unsettling for Cook not knowing who will be funding any player acquisitions, nor knowing how much is available to help keep Wigan up.

I don’t think he will be unsettled at all. Just because we are all waiting to hear news, the ones that matter will already know everything they need to know for the pre season build up and the forthcoming season.
16 June 2018 at 8:56 pm #169664At least Paul Cook only has the worry of keeping his small club with a small local fan base in the Championship rather than having the stress of trying to get his big club with the expectations of a regions fan base promoted to the Championship. That’s with or without a new owner.
What are the odds on Latics staying up and The Makems not making promotion?16 June 2018 at 9:24 pm #169665High. Fancy wagering your giro on it? You may be able to finally buy a Season Ticket for your Championship Club if it comes true.
17 June 2018 at 3:01 am #169668Look Makem Egg loving Mon, if we stay up, we stay up, if we don’t, well big deal. We know we live in the shadows of Utd, Citeh and the two Hubcappers.
Come on it is about time you came to terms and admit your club albeit having support from a massive area just simply are similar to us as you live in the shadow of Newcastle and you could now be a yo yo club between league one and the Championship. It really is simple to accept if you really try.
By the way I can afford a season ticket, I work but admittedly I don’t waste my money on gambling.
Leave our board please.17 June 2018 at 12:40 pm #169669It sounds like you’re questioning someone’s loyalty Mutty.
You’re not really in any position to do that now are You?
17 June 2018 at 1:47 pm #169670I’m just offering Donny a suggestion to help him get a ST. He’s on here all the time complaining about the high match-day prices (which will probably be higher this coming year) and has said before he’s not a ST holder.
If he’s so cock-sure that Wigan & Sunderland will be playing in the same league in 2019/20 as they will be in 2018/19, then there’s money to be earned at the expense of the bookies.
Now, do you want to discuss seat colours at the SOL or is this going to be another bitch-fest….

You make it sound like you’ve been discussing those seats.

Only they don’t actually have the money to pay for that up front so the only way they can pay him is to give him security on the next 2 parachute paymentsYou should walk that division next season coz it’s not very good but these new guys are gonna struggle to put the funding in place to mount a promotion push from the Championship
