Two most influential players not starting….2 important wins at home so why not tinker and see if I can undo the positive momentum. Totally static 1st half Humphreys mobility across the line and Godo’s pace and energy severely missed.Godos 20 years old ,he’d play twice a day !!!!Langs free kick unlucky but a poor second best 1st half.Make changes…..nearly rescued a point. Why ,why change a winning side….F### me Exeter is when yo can swap things. We re a relegation fighting league 1 side….not a Prem team in various cups, leagues etc.Rotating a team in this league is absolute bollocks. Find your best starting line up and if its performing stick with it…..change when needed and not for the sake of it. This one’s definitely on Maloney…..stop the f####### tinkering!!
31 October 2023 at 10:49 pm #201254Not sure what was going through his head tonight but he got it oh so wrong. This Saturdays FA Cup was the time to change things up but he decided to do it in a League game not sure why other than to rest players.
I’m sorry to say this but Wykes gone, he might get 15 elsewere if he’s been peppered in the 6 yard box but how many forwards wouldn’t ?. He no longer offers anything and I’m sorry but he’d be 4th choice till he leaves simply his best years are behind him.The manager needs to stop thinking he’s Pep and start his best 11 then FA Cup change all 11 as far as I’m concerned.
A total lack of managerial experience came to the forefront tonight with Maloney’s choice of his starting 11. One big positive is Godo what a gem of a gem of a player he is. 2 assist and for me he totally changed the game. Never once did he say away from taking anyone one.
I hope he doesn’t play the 2nd half 11 this Sat especially with another Tuesday game, if he does he needs a strong head wobbling session
1 November 2023 at 4:57 am #201259Did something last night I’ve only ever done once before [ and that was because I felt ill ] .. went home at h/t ..why oh why all the tinkering ???? totally and utterly absurd !!!!!!!!! ALL teams lose at some point or other , but that was a gift-wrapped present for Charlton .. idiocy at its finest .
1 November 2023 at 6:34 am #201260Massive mistake with the team selection from Maloney that has cost us three points. At least he has acknowledged his error but what was he thinking in playing Charlie Wyke from the start. A couple of days before he told us that Charlie needed to train harder to earn his place, surely he should at best have been on the bench. Godo and Humphries should have started , the second half we were a different team . Baffled with the changes considering it’s the FA Cup on Saturday ,our priority has to be to stay in this league and it’s frustrating we gave away three points so cheaply.
1 November 2023 at 7:50 am #201261Playing a weakened side for an important league game is beyond the realms of inept in my opinion.
Couldn’t believe how poor that first half display and left on 70 minutes and totally down to the team he picked.
A home banker that all day and three points tossed away.1 November 2023 at 10:32 am #201262Its all very well Maloney apologising and holding his hands up that he fucked up it should not have happened in the first place, makes my piss boil that fella!
Fuck the EFL
1 November 2023 at 12:15 pm #201263I have to agree……Says Wyke needs to train harder ….Next day not just on bench but starts. Raves about Stones(who I’d like to think us our future)…not even on bench. As I’ve stated before another Maloney howler is Magennis club captain guaranteeing him a bench spot,F###### ridiculous!!!….I couldn’t believe when I heard starting 11…..how many managers in this league would bench their 2 most influential players after 3 straight 2-0 wins ????? My guess is only 1.!!! Absolutely threw a potential 3pts down the dunny….and I fear it won’t be the last time his sticky little fingers dip into the” who shall I go with today” honey pot.

Maloney has admitted he is at fault for the loss last night.
1 November 2023 at 6:45 pm #201265Runc ffs man read the other posts before posting yourself.
It doesnt matter if Maloney has said he’s at fault it shouldnt have happened in the first place.
Fuck the EFL
2 November 2023 at 9:17 pm #201271There’s a long haul this Saturday and tbh it’s not important to us. This is were you consentrate on the League then rest players who’ll get a full week to recover so what he’s does is used everyone for 45 minutes.
So after that first half does he go with the same 1st half team after that 1st half performance or does he go with the 2nd half team with another league game next Tuesday?.
He’s basically made it so no matter what he won’t get it right. Had we played the same squad as the past few weeks and won then lost this Sat after changes I don’t think many would disagree with our priorities. If a manager can’t get a simple plan like that right and rest players at the right time I fear for us.
I can only think he thought, these guys haven’t won away. I bet Wyke and Lang are more p1ssed now been taken off than they’ve ever been, he’s just made it that bit worse
3 November 2023 at 10:55 am #201272Just had a thought ,maybe they want a cup run for financial reasons, a big away draw in the 3rd round can mean a massive cash boost although chances are very slim of getting this based on past experiences.
The team he has is more than good enough to pull away from trouble but he has some dead wood rooting to do in the new year and i think moving one or two out would be the best thing if he can.
Id play a weakened team tomorrow and make sure the main players are in on tuesday , league one status is far more important than cup runs this year as far as i am concerned as a drop to league 2 would be disastrous for the club.
League 1 is the best place to be and i will happily take a few years of consolidation and transition and some good youth players developed as opposed to short term success.
It took Whelan 8 years to build the club up for the championship when he purchased in 1995 and i have a feeling we may have to be patient and accept we have many years ahead in the lower divisions before the club can build steam up again.
The odd cup run and local derby wins here and that is all i am expecting over the next few years.
Could easily be getting ready tomorrow for a trip to Holker Old Boys if things had gone the wrong way a few months ago.3 November 2023 at 11:05 am #201274Maloney sensed the mentality was wrong? No Shaun the players were pissed off and gobsmacked after hearing the team news!
3 points and a winning run thrown away on Tuesday.
Fuck the EFL
