whilst applauding the signings of moses and moreno, in positions we urgently, needed to fill, i still feel we needed to sign a player to play in the hole, in the formation bobby prefers, the succesful teams who play this style, have had players of the calibre of totti, del piero, xavi, zidane, to a lesser extent sheringham, someone who can drop off, but also has the ability to link up play, and play telling through balls to the striker, or in our case striker, where playing scharner, there who cant pass wind, can anyone tell me a throgh ball played by scharner, were we have scored, i cant neither, we need a footballer playing there, not a centre back, put ferdinand or terry there, they would look like scharner, a fish out of water,we have to give therefore McCarthy an extended run there, at least he has the ability, to pass the ball, to a player in the same coloured shirt, this is not a vicous slight by the way, on PS, who i think is a very good centre back, my midfield 5, for sat would be NZogbia, Diame,McCarthy,Thomas, Moses, with McCarthy, playing in the tip of the diamond, just behind Rodders, with the 2 wide men, attacking at every opportunity, and Moremo, providing top class back up on the bench, which we havent had.

Well done Minerva another quality post, talking sense – thread deserves to get more air time, so up you go

Now I am going to have my say – not sure why no one replies to your posts, you obviously give them alot of thought, you seem very articulate and maybe just maybe you are a little too intelligent for some of this lot to be equally articulate

        keep em coming bro

Maybe most people agree – it would be pretty boring if everyone just said “I agree” ad infinitum.

        Anyway – I agree

My worry is that the team has no character and reacts very badly especially when they go behind.
Moses could be a revelation or a waste of space as could the other striker and if that happens then we have had it-simple as that. The team is very badly organised in my opinion and playing pretty patterns in the midfield doesnt win you football matches and i look at the table with great worry. All the teams around us have some character in their sides and i think will be up for the fight and unless these two lads cut it fast(not sure with a 19 year old) then i feel the R word will be a very real possibility.
Its no use quibling about the signings made now because it is far too late. The time for action and improvement in the results is right now and no amount of pontificating and spin from Roberto will change that.
Lets hope for three quick points against Mrs Doubtfires lot on saturday!

Good post, i still dont think Thomas or Diame look threatening enough when they get in opponents half though, i would like to see Watson replace Diame as i believe he is a better passer of a ball and looks like he may score every now and then

Agreed Vince – but you failed to mention the zonal marking system now in place

At the fans forum it was disclosed that we do not have a defensive coach – RM has taken a perfectly good unit and destroyed it to a shambles

Make no bones about it we can play anyone at the back and it wont get any better – shambles

It is a good post, but last time I commented ‘good post’ I was pulled up by one of the dark side for back slapping.

            To hell with it….good post

Not wishing to burst anyone’s bubble but I think the type of player you have in mind Minerva is, in the Roberto Plan, one Jordi Gomez.

            #21554

No bubbles burst here Griff, as I think we have three players who have the potential to play that role – ie. Gomez, Koumas and McCarthy. McCarthy looks an exciting prospect; Gomez has had his moments; Koumas is the Wrexham Le Tissier, but with even less enthusiasm.

My applause was for the Scharner observations and that fact that we have another poster who can share a view other than sack Martinez, play 442, or Whelan is ruining the club.

I agreed with the post too, I was just suggesting that Roberto alrweady thinks he has the answer to that “hole-man” conundrum and that solution is Jordi Gomez.

I wasn’t criticizing Minerva at all.

Victor Moses plays better off the front man or in the hole as I guess its called rather than on wing according to Palace fans so you could have a front four in a 4231 of

            Moreno or Scotland ;)
            Rodallega N’Zogbia
            Moses
Which will certainly have pace in it. Diame & Thomas can then just play holding roles and let them four run riot in attack

And I agree with that. So it looks like we have a harmonious thread for one.
