The Council made a decent effort with the publicity around the cup final but seem to be taking a while updating the signs coming into the borough, anybody know why ?
It was a little more exciting before the cup final – then there was the anticlimax of relegation.
What do you think the new signs should say?

The club have no say about road signage, and at a time when they are looking to deal with the admin of bringing new players in, balancing the books across the board with a lower income, being prepared for a new season which will include European trips, I think whether there are a few road signs around is low on the club’s priority list to press, even if they did have any influence.
Yes, we know the Council has not had a good word to say for years and suddenly became Latics supporters overnight, but I’d chill about it.
People round the world know we won the FA Cup. If the Council can’t see they could still get a bit of kudos from it then they need a talking to. Some of heh Councillors will be actual Latics supporters – write to them and get them on board.

Suspect that’s the correct answer, and quite right too.
I can confirm that there is a sign made that reads ‘Home of Wigan Athletic FA Cup Winners 2013’.
I have been reliably informed that similar signs have been installed on entrances to the borough. Perhaps the eagle eyed can confirm this? There isn’t one yet at Landgate island.
There is one on Liverpool Road as you head in to Ashton.Is there? When did that go up?
Still not one at Landgate, arguably the busiest motorway junction into Wigan.

Can only have been in the last few days, I drive through there often and only noticed it yesterday. Its just after you leave 24 and turn left.
I turn off right at 24 and get back on M6, to come off at 25.
I’d go the other way tonight through Ash Vegas but Wigan Roads a feckin nightmare with Bryn Rd closed over railway bridge
