And to think, you can’t even have a fag in our grounds.
It is the same at the Qatari World Cup in 2022, apparently – no fags allowed.
It’s a $5000 fine for pulling on a fag in Qatar. Well, Tarquin would have to settle for a peck on the cheek and a sneaky hug at those prices[/quote]
I spend a good deal of time in Doha, the capital. You would be surprised, there are bars (parts of hotels admittedly) but you can generally do what you want within reason. Same with Dubai, Muscat etc.
I would be willing to bet there are more hookers in Dubai than Amsterdam. Try the York Hotel for a drink if you are ever in Dubai, cast of hundreds.

I’ve been in the York a couple of times; makes a mockery of the Emirate’s claims to be a paragon of virtue. Sodom and Gomorrah, more like. Great fun, though. A veritable cattle market!
Is Qatar not more strict, though? A bit more like Saudi?

for the gay ones among you the “le meridian”near the airport is the place to be – this was always my favourite place to stay plus the garden restaraunt and bar was superb at night with the added bonus of watching american businessmen and senior army officers “pulling” young gay male prostitutes.
doha is nothing like saudi -it is just like dubai only smaller it reminds me a little of how dubai was about 12 years ago.
