    * Majority of our corners were hit into the box. Think we only took one short one.
    * We didn’t mess about too much in defence. Perch opted for row Z on 3 or 4 occasions, as opposed to tippy tappy play your way to safety.
    * We actually put men on the back posts when we had to defend a corner. This has not happened for 4 seasons.
    * Crainey was well chuffed with the win, after the final whistle. Ten out of ten for enthusiasm.
    * Full marks to Barnsley council for free parking in the town centre at weekends.
    * That winning feeling at five ‘o’ clock on a Saturday was nice; long may it continue.

Another noticeable point – we had 63% of possession.

We were playing against Barnsley, who finished just one point above relegated Peterborough last season.

We started last season with a game against Chelsea, who had just become Champions of Europe.

We don’t move in the same circle any more, and the demands upon the team are hardly the same. Congratulations on a good win all the same.

You may need to think about that comment after 55 games this season

Aye, but did you actually go to the game ? With your username, you should have been first in the queue !

All I know is that the feelgood factor is back amongst the fans and league confidence is high albeit only one game in ! There doesn’t appear to be any rifts so far and the fans are not split down the middle arguing about the manager’s shortfalls ! All this could change sooner than later due to the fickle nature of the football fan but as we stand I am basking in euphoria ! The relegation and change of manager seems to have been just what the doctor ordered for our little club !

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday with our overall performance. we played some good stuff at times, but for me more importantly, we didn’t fanny around, when in danger, the ball was dispatched into the stands. we looked a good outfit, thought it would take a while to gel, but it didn’t. we have the makings of a very, very good team. ok, people say “it was only Barnsley and they were poor” but you can only beat what’s in front of you. it ‘s looking good. :)

You’re quite right – I should have gone. But I am going to Wembley – yet again!

I’m hoping to enjoy a more relaxed season this year. I’ve got my season ticket, but I’m not determined to see every game. I will be willing to miss a match if something else comes up. And I’m usually busy on a Thursday night, so I may not be able to get to the European games, which would be a blow.

However, if Wigan are top of the table and in a challenge with their Lancashire rivals, everything could change. I’d be happy with a another trip to Wembley at the end of the season, though that would add three more games to a ridiculously busy season already. On reflection, it might be better to go up direct!
