Yesterday everytime we got anywhere near the area there was constant screams of SHOOOOOOT, even when the majority of the time the shot wasnt on. What do you want them to do shoot from anywhere put the ball dead thus handing the ball back to the opposition, this is something QPR were doing a lot of near the end. They were banging shots in from 30 – 40 yards quite regular with Ali not even bothering to move for them knowing full well they had more chance of hitting the QPR fans than back of the net.
28 August 2011 at 3:47 pm #70615Think it may just be a tongue in cheek thing scoffy that most teams fans do having seen one of their players slam one in from distance as per our fig.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!28 August 2011 at 4:28 pm #70621It’s not a Tongue on cheek thing, I know one of them when I hear it. Its not just the shout of Shoooot it’s the groans that come after it when they don’t shoot.
28 August 2011 at 7:53 pm #70630Personally I’d prefer we play the ball into the box, create a chance and score from it (though that doesn’t happen often). Too much long range shooting is very often a sign of desperation.
28 August 2011 at 8:50 pm #70632You and me both wolfy, just wish the numptys ranting and raving around me thought the same.
28 August 2011 at 8:59 pm #70633people have different opinions, some like a goal from distance some like a tap in, me i like any, but if u dont shoot u dont score.

I think you totally misunderstood the feeling of the game, the time of the game, the euphoria of the fans inside……
The calls for “shoot” were not really heard until we were 90mins + 3…..and (I was one of them shouting – tongue in cheek) we could have had a third – just look at the Utd game today (both teams scored in time added on). If, however, those around you were shouting it throughout the game then either tell them to shut the f@£k up or move seats….after all it’s only a game of football. ;)
Anyway – “shoot” is an old naval command, one that an ‘old soldier’ shouldn’t really be bothered about.
;)

Mr MickyC
I never misunderstood the feeling of the game, its the same every week we have the ball on the edge of the area and all you hear is half the ground moaning and groaning cause we havent shot. It was happening in the first half, i was pointing out what happens when you do just start having pop shots from everywhere like QPR were on Saturday 99% of the time shooting without having a good sight of the goal just gives the opposition the ball. Watson got a shout of shooooot from the East stand late on the second half and he did from about 35 yards out, i think the ball hit a Rugby fan on their way down wemberlee way.
29 August 2011 at 2:23 pm #70706I wouldn’t recommend shouting with your tongue in your cheek Micky. Not attractive at all. ;)

However, there is bloke (in the West stand) who I sometimes wish would shout with his tongue in his cheek – my dad can hear him (and he doesn’t go any more  )
